Also, in what universe is it fair that LSU plays Florida every year while Ole Miss plays Vanderbilt?

ole miss has dropped 3 staright to Vandy I think.

Sucks that ole miss has to play them every year.

Not when they made the permanent rivalries. At that point, LSU was supposed to be Florida's doormat - a rent-a-win on Spurrier's inevitable march to Atlanta and bowl game failure.

ALSO, stfu your team plays Kentucky every year.

What a dumb arse response.

The real reason is, Florida already has 3-4 rivalries (FSU, UGA, UT, and Miami). LSU is just another game every year, usually a good one.

fact: LSU played UK more than they played UF before expansion

so it's again one of those stupid manufactured home office rivalries that we have no interest in

No, you don't. Alabama doesn't.

So what? It is a high profile game with epic tailgating. Who cares who they play. You should be excited to always have a huge game on the schedule. You lose it sucks, you win and it is a notch on the belt to try and get in the title game. It is a game to always be excited about.

No shite. I'd gladly trade you kentucky for Florida and wouldn't be a bleeding vagina about it either.

Just think in 2007 when you lost to kentucky, if not for the Florida win, you wouldn't be in the title game.

But at the same time I wish they would get rid of the permanent rivalry too. So we wouldn't have to play Kentucky every year.

I like playing Florida every year if it doesn't screw everything up

The problem is with a 14 or 16 team SEC you don't get to play the rest of the teams from the opposite division when you have only 1 or 2 rotating opponents from the opposite division.

If a 16 team SEC with pods were to emerge I'd like LSU and Florida to remain fixed opponents - its a great game for a national television audience that promotes both schools

It's the truth though.

We're trying to be nice. We don't wanna kill your program forever like we did to Tulane and Ole Miss.

It's not that LSU won't embrace a rivalry with Florida, it's that Florida won't embrace LSU as a rival - with good reason, LSU is a rival killer.
SEE: Tulane, Ole Miss.

NO ONE wants to be LSU's rival and end up like those two programs.

LOL OMG

LSU having an annual game with Florida make LSU the center of the College Football Universe.

The last 7 national champions play an annual game with LSU.

This is why Texas A&M wanted to get on LSU's annual schedule, so they could compete for championships.

I love the Florida game. In fact, it is one of my favorite games along with Bama.

Just the same, I would gladly give it up to be able to play the other teams in the east more often.

I don't care about fairness or anything else. I would just rather be able to play the other teams in my own conference more often. I love going to road games, but prefer to go to different places.

Before aTma and Mizzou joined UF and LSU I think has the most distance between the campuses of any other schools. Rivals usually are near by.

So frick The SEC Office.

But a loss to Florida in 2006 kept us out of the SEC title game against a team we beat head to head because that SEC west team had an easy schedule from the SEC East. We didn't play well at Florida, but were playing better toward the end of the season. So the matchup with Florida in Atlanta may have ultimately decided who went to play for the national title. This argument cuts both ways.

Agreed!!!

As a LSU fan, alumn, current student, and Baton Rouge native i can say that through my experience LSU doesn't have a "traditional" rival. Florida to us is similar to Bama in the fact that it is a rivalry manufactured by the fact that all teams are usually competing for a SEC championship. The "hatred" for Bama didn't start until the whole Saban hire, which i think is retarded because the man left LSU and went to NFL only to bolt from the dolphins in order to keep from getting canned. The Florida "rivalry" didn't really escalate until we beat them in Death Valley when they were #1(96 or 97 to lazy to look it up). Both of these are based on circumstance and mutual respect for each others teams. The only team i can say that LSU has pure hatred for no matter what happens is Auburn. Even when Auburn is down LSU fans want to see them taken to the woodshed and piss on their graves. Hell i see "Auburn Sucks" or "Auburn sucks dick" scribed in concrete on the way to class every day

Arkansas no matter how bad they want has no bearing what so ever w/o felix, dmac, or whacky arse Nutt-er-butter. Now they are just a end of the season nuisance.

LSU drinks too much to remember if they have any rivals. They just wake up, look at the schedule, and start hating the next team.
