Both Urban and Spurrier burned out at UF. But Urban's was far worse.

It has been said there are only two men in history who can unite the entire South in hatred.....William Tecumseh Sherman and Steve Spurrier.

Spurrier owned the 90's and was a coaching genius. I hate Florida & Spurrier and I even admit this.

Spurrier put UF on the map. Florida football was a joke before he got there. Plus he played there and won y'all a Heisman. People forget how Spurrier dominated the SEC in the 90's...Bama ran off Stallings because we could never get past Spurrier and the Fun n Gun.

The complaints I've seen largely are that he didn't coach at UF long enough and/or he chose to coach a team in the same division as the Gators.

I don't have an issue with it all other than the name being a little awkward now.

It is still too soon for the butthurt to allow anything to be named after him.

However...

Corch Ubban Maya heart recovery center has recently opened just off campus.

You missed the Galen Hall and Charlie Pell era huh?

The only bad year they had after Pell was Gary Darnell.

Florida was a joke in the 70's but not the 80's after they started cheating.

Spurrier's affiliation with the university spans decades. Without Spurrier, Meyer would have gone to Notre Dame. Meyer was a gun for hire. A damn good one, but just a gun for hire.

Spurrier didn't "burn out" at Florida. He wanted to show he could coach in the NFL (which he couldn't). Hell...he went 20-5 his last two seasons with one SEC Championship. Spurrier left Florida for a challenge...Urban left telling a lie.
