The only jobs created are temporary freelance jobs with no benefits.
Those could and should be the best kind, "benefits" are paid for in lower wages and far too much emphasis is put on them, just as a "permanent" job status which means relatively nothing if you have a Union interfering and driving up labor costs.
quote:
And the workers' paychecks are taxed in Louisiana AND California
More govt interference from fools who think the Govt has the solution for everything. Thanks for pointing this out, it's your own stupidity that makes you believe this is somehow a "bad" thing, it's only "bad" because of the spin put on it by the assholes in govt and unions that leach off of the workers. It's not the 'jobs fault' it is taxed too much, it's fools who vote for never ending Govt increases and mandates on labor practices that drive up costs.

Imagine a guy approaches you and wants to build a car in your garage. He also wants to eat all your food for free and use all your tools for free. He doesn't pay any rent or any utilities. But he promises to let your kids help out on the car and says he'll throw them a few bucks.
He finishes the car and the sells it for, oh let's say $200 million. He gives you none of the proceeds and leaves town. Then you find out the money he gave your kids was taxed three times and they already spent it.
Your wife says "Honey, that guy sure made a lot of money off that car, won't we get any of it for letting him use our garage for free?"
"Nope, but just think. That car was in OUR garage! That was pretty cool huh?"
That's the film industry in Louisiana in a nutshell.

I heard that Glenn Gilbeaux ( LSU's answer to Finebaum) tried to sneak a peek in the suite's bathroom.

Imagine a guy with a family, in the shitty economy we find ourselves in. Not enough money coming in and finds extra pay due to filming in Louisiana. Enough money to help him temporarily get above water and maybe stack some savings. Do you really think the average joe down there gives a frick about tax credits?
That's reality. That's also the film industry in Louisiana.

Funny that you bring up the jobs created and the "big picture" at the same time.
The only jobs created are temporary freelance jobs with no benefits. And the workers' paychecks are taxed in Louisiana AND California.
So now we only care about the quality of the jobs created. Go by Costco in BR and look a the giant movie studio built there off of Airline. Someone works there. They eat somewhere. They sleep somewhere. The studio caters through someone . They buy there materials for sets from someone. They have someone build those sets. Or do you think they just flew in from Hollywood with everything in tow and started filming. Get of your high horse and realize that having a little of something is better than having a lot if nothing.

What you described is NFL franchises not the Film industry here in Louisiana.
All I know is that the economy in Metro New Orleans has never been as good as it is today. I own numerous rental properties in New Orleans. Rent has gone up dramatically over the last 10 years. There are far more qualified people, making a lot more money, renting property than ever before. When I drive around New Orleans, I see more construction and overall improvements than I've seen in a very long time. I have several friends that are making a ton of money because of the film industry.

No one robs LA more than the Texas oil & gas industry with the hand of the US federal government.

You're one of the worse posters from the worse fanbases here, especially when it comes to trolling, and you wanna talk about keeping stupid shite off here?

He was recently filming Mena in Ballground/Atlanta, but I'm pretty sure they've wrapped by now.
The real question is:
If he's filming a new movie in Louisiana, how long until the production moves to Georgia?
