Agreed. And based soly on stats, Murray is the easy choice. But, not turning the ball over....that's tough and important in big games. Protecting the ball is what McCarron does best, and he still can make difficult throws. BUT< in Murray's defense, he has not had very good running backs until last season. It will be interesting to see how he does with an excellent running attack. He shouldn't have to force as many balls this year.

It was a good and legitimate thread!

My question is, in a big game, who do you want? Aaron Murray or David Greene?

I don't know. They were under such different circumstances. Different teams. I mean, ws Greene so good, really? He had success, but was it because he was so good, or because the team around him was so good? I mean, Georgia would have lost against SouCarolina, except Pollack took the ball right out of the Gamecock QBs hands in the end zone. There were games that were won by the defense and not by Greene. So, if you are talking about Green with the recent Georgia teams or the ones he was blessed to play with? Are you talking about Murray with the teams Greene had to play with or what he was given?

Quit dodging the question and answer. No matter who is around him, who would you feel more comfortable with winning a big game? I'm still waiting for Murray's "Hobnail Boot" moment.

Not dodging the question. It is legitimate. If they were given the same circumstances and same team, I would feel just as comfortable with Murray.

Look...Greene threw for 72 TD and 32 INTs (4 years)
Murray has thrown 95 TD and 32 INTS (3 years)

Greene had 1440 atts while Murray has 1131.

The attempts at the end will not be drastically different, yet Murray's TD total will be MUCH higher. Murray averages 11 picks a year, Greene avged 8 picks.

Greenes QB rating was 138.3 while Murray's is about 160

You tell me. Which would you prefer?

Still plays 2 top 10 teams a year. Plays 3 top 10 teams in the first 4 games.

The foundation of the question is flawed. Murray gets plenty of love from the Rant. It is generally acknowledged here that he is a great quarterback, and the sole reason he isn't considered the best in the SEC is because of AJ (nattys) and Johnny (Heisman).

Murray has nothing but his stats.

Best QB in the conference this year. If he had a NC, he would be perceived differently.

David Greene
- 42 wins
- 12-9 against top 25 teams

Aaron Murray
- 28 wins
- 4-10 against top 25 teams

This is AM's deciding year to make or break his legacy. He has the team to do it and the schedule to prove how good he is. For me, the jury is still out until after this year. I can definitely see the potential of AM becoming the best QB in UGA history with all the records and winning an SEC and Natty.

Keep in mind, that Green did his over 4 years, and Murray has only 3 years. Those final stats you gave might look vastly different after this season. After 14 games (possible) this year, if Murray and Georgia win 12 of those, the win total gets a whole lot closer. IF they win the SEC east and play Alabama, Murray will have the chance to play possibly 6 more top 25 teams. (Clemson, SouCar, LSU, Flordia, Winner of SEC West, and Bowl game)If they win 12 of those 14 games and 5 of them are ranked, then your numbers look a whole lot tighter, but Murray will have MUCH better passing yards, TDs etc.

Again, it so hard to compare the two. Different teams surrounded them Murray was asked to carry the team to a lack of any kind of running game until last year. That makes a HUGE difference.

Why don't we just agree that they are both excellent Quarter Backs. All we can do is play pretend, anyway with this line of arguing.

Seriously? And if the East is so weak, why do LSU fans continually complain because they have to play Florida and Georgia? I mean...if last years SEC standings are any indication...

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Florida
4. LSU
5. Texas A&M
6. SouCar

I have no idea about this, however I'm going to ask some of those staunch UGA fans who know the history of DAWG Ball...my questions are as follow: were the teams that David Greene played on ranked in the top 25, top 20, top 15, top 10, top 5? Were they favored and expected to win?....Now, UGA under Murray? Sure, you have to win to be ranked in the top ## (fill in the blank), however if you aren't even favored going in, well how reliable is this argument...LSU game dropped TD passes, Mich St missed FG's, UCF CMR telling the team to go sit down on a 4th and inches because "they had their chance" (the team quit right there), no running game Murray's 1st two years, suspect OL who just didn't care, and don't forget the all NFL me-me defense that just under performed all year...love Greene? love Murray? Greene played on some great TEAMs, Murray has yet to play on a complete TEAM...will this be the year?
