when will you ppl start realizing this expansion had nothing to do with the athletic success (or lack of) of mizzou, but everything to do with the market they bring us, and no it doesn't matter if you couldn't find a mizzou fan in the state of missouri, they'll still pay the Sec just like the state of texas will.
Where do people get the idea that there aren't Mizzou fans in Missouri?
And lack of success? Oh you mean lack of championships, Mizzou's in the top 15 in wins over the past 8 years in football, multiple trips to the tourney (only to lose right away)... not that many programs have that to say. Sorry we're not Alabama in football and Kentucky basketball.

You dont need to be that. You just cant be MSU in basketball and OM in football. We already have teams that are bad to average every year.
I agree with OP that KU is a better choice than Mizzou in every aspect. Neither should be in the SEC though.

No, we mean lack of success in football. They program has done nothing noteworthy. You haven't won a conference in football in over 50 years with no end in sight to that drought.

I will, because Mizzou brings nothing to the table. Im sorry that your school is terrible at sports, but thats life in the big city.
Mkay..
Glad to know we can add you to the list of people that don't know what they're talking about.

Im sorry I hurt your feelings.
What is it exactly you think you bring to the table?

They are Yankees... maybe they should try hockey?

And we were MSU in basketball??? Or we were one of 3 SEC teams to go to the tourney and our established program is going to be in the top 5 of the SEC every year. That comment made absolutely no sense.
OM in football... OM seems to be doing just fine for itself. And do you need to be reminded that MU has more wins than 90% of college football over the last 8 years... but yeah, we're terrible. Good call.

You sound like a West Virginia fan trying to sell your program to the SEC like they did when LSU was up there in '11. In between the Fbombs from WVU students it was non-stop "put a good word in for us at the SEC office" or "please pull some strings to get us in the SEC". It got old after an hour of their fans on their knees.

Ya, average program that has a good season every few years.

They have won 10 games in the last 3 seasons. Ya, theyre killing it

In the soft arse Big12. You wouldnt have sniffed that if the last 8 years were in the sec.
So I ask again, what are all these things Mizzou brings to the table? At least Kansas has one elite program.

You'd prefer it because even if MU is bottom half of the SEC football program currently, you still know they're good enough to pull off an upset against your team. On the other hand, you know there isn't a team in the SEC that wouldn't beat kU by 30. Just wanting that true cupcake on the schedule.
Why would kU ever be added for basketball either? If the powers that be were looking to improve the basketball in the SEC wouldn't you go hard after UNC, Duke or NC State, all who at least have a resemblance of a football program currently?

this conference needs more BASKETBALL schools.
I agree. Let's call UNC and Duke. Both are better programs than KU and are actually Southern.

This plus they actually play some football at those schools.

The SEC is tough enough in football.

I agree, and have said so in this thread.

So win total is that relevant? I guess then you'd have to say Mizzou is excellent then, considering they are top 15 in wins over the last 8 years.
And don't lie, you know OM is trending up in a big big way.

Yeah, beating #1 OU, beating TX, playing heisman winning Baylor, Tamu, a very good OSU, Nebraska... yeah that was such a weak league. Such a casual fan comment, you must be a casual fan.

Once again, those wins are nice, but accumulated against a soft schedule.

They have done very well in recruiting, and we will see what happens on the field. They are certainly trending the opposite direction of Mizzou though.

And what are all those big bad B12 programs records against the sec in the last 8 years?

It's no secret the SEC is going to expand again to 16 teams
There's no guarantee of that.
quote:
so why should one of them be Kansas?
No reason whatsoever.
quote:
just take a look at our basketball program
We already have one of the three or four legendary basketball programs in history, plus consistent strong programs in Florida and Missouri. Adding another basketball power wouldn't make that much difference.

our Football team is no joke either
I hope this is a joke.

Finally don't say we are not a geographical fit, because you let Mizzou in
Some weren't particularly thrilled about that, but at least Missouri brings somewhat of a TV market. What does Kansas bring, except a basketball team?
