What exactly does that change?

DL - 178.7 yds/game - 1608 total yds
TR - 145.5 yds/game - 1600 total yds

I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that the SEC's site views participation in less than 10 games under the minimum for qualifying for leading in a statistical category.

k

So in real life, when we actually use the numbers based upon games played, instead of just throwing statistics out bc we don't like them, TR is still 3rd even though you put him 1st and 2nd.

Gotcha.

No, in real life there is a minimum number of games played for qualifying for any conference or national statistical category.

If it makes you feel better, go ahead.

Derrick Locke didn't play at all for Kentucky, he didn't have more yds/game, and he didn't have more total yds than the great TR.

His stats are officially wiped from the record books. Because in real life, he apparently didn't play a single game according to CapstoneGrad06.

ETA: Question, since we are going by the rules... what is Nick Saban's overall record at bama? Same question for Stallings?

Good point.

Cap, why didn't you make your own website and rules regarding who qualified for each statistical category?

If i could rank them It would be OU, Bama, LSU, in that order.

Bama getting us at home is honestly the only reason i think they'll finish over us.

Alabama returns 8 starters on offense (counting Richardson) and 9 starters on defense. That's a pretty damn good recipe for success.

The only player impossible to replace from that '10 offense is Julio Jones. But I think you will be surprised at how good our receiving corps is this year. Marquis Maze is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated players in the SEC. He will be good. As will Darius Hanks. He's a very good possession receiver who catches everything thrown his way. DeAndrew White and Duron Carter will both be studs as well.

The only reason they are ranked higher than us is because of the NS love fest. If he were coaching LSU with the same players we have now, LSU would be ranked higher. We did beat a good Bama team last year and we will be better than last year also. Bama will be good on defense so will LSU. Its a preseason poll and thats where NS gets his advantage for now. Once the games are played things will be different. Go Tigers.

Wait...I thought the national media hated Saban because he was a liar and an a-hole? When did things change?

I do not believe this ... Alabama has been overlooked by the polls in the past (rated and consistently delivered better than expected results) and now the polls have caught up with their performance and have them near the top, much of it hype about Saban. It's a "cyclical" event

For now yes ... but here's the catch

In this century, Alabama has NEVER delivered when they were ranked #1 or # 2 to start the season.

WHY? ... You fricking tell me and we'll both know

Saban is better at being the underdog than delivering a NC when he's "expected" to do so.

2011 will be no different.

Will Alabama will be # 1 or # 2 in the AP preseason poll ... I hope so ...

It's the kiss of phucking Death for Alabama

Read those poll results ... Championships go through Baton Rouge, breaux!

2011 will be no different. Only LSU beats LSU.

And all these ckskrs in here ... they're in the Champions Forum ... sniffin" to get a whiff of greatness

Neither has LSU. "WHY? ... You fricking tell me and we'll both know "

And to be clear, this is only the second time we've been ranked that high in the preseason polls this century so it's not like we perennially choke.

That said, this could be one of the best defensive teams we have seen in a long time.

The AP polls come out in mid - August

LSU will likely be # 7 ... maybe lower ... and I like the disrespect

Alabama will be # 1 or # 2 ... and Saban will choke ... as always!

Get the net princess ... It's a long way to fall when everyone's gunning for you!!!

Bama will be very good and their future looks even better...over the next couple of years. I am a little surprised at Bama fans that "IF's" that so many Bama fans are considering "YES's" as a forgone conclusion. Such as:
1. That whatever QB will be able to be an effective game manager
2. That the secondary will be much better than they were at the end of the season
3. That Josh Chapman will be all SEC
4. That 1st round pick LT Carpenter wasn't nearly as good as the NFL thought
5. That Trent Richardson can carry the rock 25 times a game without getting injured.....at all
6. That several WR's will step up and make the WR corps better than average (all they are with Maze and Hanks as the main 2 targets

Schedule is good and if the stars align, I don't doubt that Bama can compete for the whole thing...I just think Bama fans are assuming that a whole lot of IF's will work themselves out quickly and painlessly. Watchout in PA. IF the new QB comes out hot right out of the gate and gains confidence in that first game, I will change my opinion...but I think the starter will be AJ and I've already seen him choke.

yeah if you live in bama.the way i see it,bama has a verey good team every year and the overrated hype they seem to get all the time helps them.what i mean by over rated,is that they are set to win the NC game every year, they are a very good team but some what overhyped.

Both QBs are very talented, much more than McElroy (not hating), so as long as they don't turn the ball over we'll be fine.

Again, tons of talent. Menzie will hopefully be at 100%. Barron is great, IMO. Lester makes plays. Dre and Milliner had a lot of experience last year so it's safe to say that they'll improve.

3. That Josh Chapman will be all SEC
I haven't seen this.

4. That 1st round pick LT Carpenter wasn't nearly as good as the NFL thought

Many say he was picked higher than expected. Hopefully someone will step in here so that we don't have to move Barrett Jones.

No one can predict this. Depth has become a small concern.

Many argue that without having Julio, a WR that is ALWAYS in the focus of the QB, will make for better decision making as far as making reads. No doubt Julio will be missed but there are many receiving good reviews.

Nothing is a forgone conclusion in CFB, but there are many promising things about this Bama team.

ESPN loves $atan, but this is a critical year in the love affair, for sure. The media would be a lot more cautious about their predictions IF Bama had to come to Tiger Stadium this year. But Bama's schedule is favorable, so the love affair continues. IF Bama stumbles, however, they'll go elsewhere in a heartbeat.
