Again, if we have just decided that traditional games don't matter then let's just get rid of this whole "conference" thing. I'd much rather play Texas, Miami, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, etc once every 10 years than travel to Missouri or Nashville every few years.

Again:

9 games isn't going to happen in the SEC because of home-away balance. It takes what is wrong with permanent opponents, and combines a new stupid issue with scheduling on top of it. It doesn't fix the imbalance issue, it only attempts to fix the frequency issue. A solution would have to be 8 or 10 games for widespread acceptance, IMO.

The world's greatest strawman creation segued into a non sequitur. Might impressive in its fallaciousness. You usually have to listen to Jenny McCarthy to get that kind of foolishness.

I don't know why you keep posting that. I'm not arguing about 9 game schedules, I'm saying that the only point of a "conference" is a regional league where you play teams regularly and develop a relationship with. If we are going go all OU-Nebraska Big XII on the league and rip up AU-UGA and Bama-UT then I'd rather just rip up the league and play home and homes with teams around the country.

awww hail -- just play 9 conference games every year. If you want to play the traditional rival every year -- just schedule them. Tired of this ole shite

A strawman would be a dreamed up scenario that enables my point. This doesn't fit that definition at all. We are doing away with rivalries like UA-UT and AU-UGA then I don't really see the point of keeping a "league" from my point of view. I'd rather just create a regional system like the NFL and play tons of different people.

You are missing the point. The way you get to play teams in this conference every year is putting them in your division. The solution has existed for two decades, yet Bama fans like yourself still can't seem to understand that all you have to do it put UT in the West or move Bama to the East. No gymnastics, perma-screwed up schedules, never playing other division teams, etc. necessary. Easily fixed.

Creating a Super Conference type NFL system with only ex-Power Conference teams? Yea, nobody has suggested that ever.

Ok, quote the post of mine that says "traditional games don't matter." Post anyone's post that says that. I'll wait.

So why does UT have to be played every year?

People who were in the SEC prior to '91 know why.

I'd be 100% totally content moving to the East along with Auburn and switching places with Missouri or Vanderbilt. I think a lot of Alabama people would. Playing traditional rivals every season like we have for 50 or 100 years is higher on my totem poll than ways to avoid losses.

There is zero chance the Eastern schools want to see a division with UGA, UF, AU, UA, UT, USCe. Never will happen.

Can you imagine if the American Music Awards competed in the SEC. Talk about making a brutal conference even harder.

So move UT to the West. Arkansas can join its geographically challenged neighbor to the north.
