That may be true in college, but if he had even an ounce of success at Miami, we both know he wouldn't be at bama.

If going back in time and giving LSU the 2011 title would improve the quality of posters on this board, I would be down for it.

frick that! That single game (21-0) is the catalyst that sent that program into the tail spin it's in today.

The constant crying, whining, gnashing of teeth about everything from officials, unfair scheduling, SEC office in B'ham, cross division rivals, etc. are pure gold and 7 yr later we still get to witness it on this board.

Maybe? I don't know him personally.

That said, it was more than just being able to win and a lot of money to get him to Alabama. He had the BoT take a back seat to him running the football team.

Do you know of ANY NFL owners who are completely hands off for the day-to-day operation of their clubs? These guys are billionaires, and used to having complete say in their businesses. Coaches to them are just employees.

Also? Saban went 9-7 his first season, and in the second lost his bid on Brees because Drew failed the team's physical and he couldn't sign him. He might very well have stayed at Miami if Brees goes there - with their defense in 2006, they might have won the whole thing.

So, basically, you can owe Alabama's absolute domination of LSU to some doctor in Miami. Butterfly effect.

It honestly still feels like a silly dream that LSU fired Les Miles to hire Ogre

Seriously, wtf

Would you rather work for a company that spends more or less money on your department?

It might not be a huge thing but it's definitely a perk and an advantage.
But the bottom line is it's a choice - every Athletic Department has the ability to decide how they wish to spend their money.

reaaly. Combine those teams natties in FB and they don't add up to what Bama has. Those you mentioned are top tier programs along with AU. Probably top 15 in all of CFB

Are they really?
UF attracted Muschamp with zero HC experience followed by McElwain from Colorado St.
LSU fired their most successful HC and attracted the dline coach.
UGA fired a HC with a solid winning percentage and attracted an alumnus with zero HC experience.

Better recruiting advantages but not better jobs.
The HC at Bama is the most important job at the school, has a virtually unlimited budget and the administration leaves em alone.

From Bowden in 97 to malzahns first in 09 au had 4 coaches avg. 3 years each.

Damn bammers can't do math.

Chizik was hired in 09 and Gus in 13. So 3 coaches in 12 years (4 years per coach) or 4 coaches in 16 years (4 years per coach). And that is also ignoring the fact that Bowden got 5 years and Gus is in year 5.

A choice that no one else seems willing to make. Why do y'all have such an issue with me pointing this out? It's an advantage right now and has been the last several years.

It's just funny that it took a Ole Miss coach for LSU to be good.

Tweaked your post a bit. It's as accurate as the original.

No program has better recruiting advantages than Bama. Bama literally can go into any state in the South and be a serious contender for any top prospect. Tuscaloosa is slap in the middle of the entire SEC foot print.

Bama is in the top 2 or 3 pecking order in more states than anyone else and that is what really matters. Especially when those include AL,GA, FL and LA. Plus Bama pulls kids from the West Coast.

Alabama would be Nebraska or Tennessee now if Saban never came. Completely irrevelant and no one could care less.

Alabama was the greatest program in the history of the SEC the day before Saban took the job. Probably still would be if he hadn't taken it.
