Why has our spineless Commish not corrected the UGA/AU scheduling?

This isn't a troll, I'm honestly asking if someone knows the behind the scenes story on how this has gone down.

-When Missouri and Texas A&M came into the league, obviously some pre-set schedules (set years in advance) had to change. Understandable.
-As it happens, to make room for the new folks UGA played @ Auburn (as we were scheduled to) in 2012, but then in a first time ever twist we also played @ Auburn the following year in 2013.

Ok, so I'm still on board with having to just "make things happen" to get things done. I get it. But here's what I don't get. Just 3 months ago we had a situation where we moved the LSU/UF game from gainesville to baton rouge. Ok, fine. That's the exact opposite from the norm, but it's necessary at the time. So what does the commish do? The UF/LSU game is now going to be in gainesville for the next 2 years in 17 and 18. Everything is right in the world! You get 2 in a row, and you get 2 in a row.

So why does our shithead prez not set things right and make Auburn play in Athens 2 years in a row? There is, and I'm not a millenial flannel wearing shithead so I don't take this word lightly, LITERALLY no reason why LSU/UF can make that work but our shithead commish can't right a wrong 5 years ago and put the DSOR back on the right track.

So back to the title...does anyone have any real reason why this injustice is still going on?

Coach Sabah has been too busy to meet with him to talk over the issue. Since he has been unable to get the ok from Sabear he does not want to make the wrong decision and get into trouble.

Honestly most AU fans would like to go back to alternating Bama and UGA at home. It's brutal finishing the year @ both of those venues and every other year means not much value in the way of season tickets. All our good games at home this year were basically over 5 weeks into the year. I would be cool with us going back to Athens this year if it meant we could return to alternating

I was just kidding man, I don't know. I didn't even know that happened. It's a reasonable question. Wasn't that before he became commish though?

Exactly..it's not like this is some "UGA whining" thing, it sucks yall have to go on the road to athens and tuscalosa every other year. Used to be you finished up with 1 home and 1 road, which is normal.

My entire point is from an unfairness standpoint, which it's not fair, but going one step further and just saying from a fan standpoint (which I know, doesn't matter) here is our home schedule this year:

App state
Samford
Mississippi St
Missouri
SC
Kentucky

How happy would your season ticket holders be if that was your home schedule? We "should" have auburn at home this year.

Sounds like you said spineless Commish in your thread title, but should have said spineless UGA President/UGA Athletic Director. Florida screamed and flailed, and forced the SEC's hand. UGA must have apparently just asked for another....

They HAD to make someone play twice on the road to accommodate the new rule that divisional games must be 3-3 and OOD games 1-1.

Giving Georgia the game back would defeat the purpose of the change.

Correcting it now would cause Auburn to have 5 road conference games, so they'd have to make Texas A&M or Arkansas (because they play a neutral site game) play two straight road games @Auburn. Whichever team they chose would have to go two straight years with only 3 home conference game.

ETA: This would leave Auburn with an unbalanced division schedule, so there would be a significant problem.

Thank you for the response!

So, to put it in terms for someone who is hammered, how can UF/LSU (who are regular every season opponents) make it work but UGA/AU can't?

Dude Auburn can't travel to the same venue 2 years in a row.
Ever seen them in Atlanta b2b?

Yeah I agree y'all got screwed, but my point is they'd have to screw another team to fix it.

After thinking about it more though I think my first comment was wrong, they would have to flip homefield of every east west game for a season I think.

If they flipped all of the East West games, Bama would get UT and Auburn away the same year similar to UGA's situation now, but we'd still get LSU home that year.

Ole Miss played at Alabama 2 years in a row those same 2 years.

Ii don't see how you'll get it corrected until we go, hopefully, to a 9 game schedule. As of now what occurs with the 2 interdivisional games each year is to have the regular game, such as UGA- AU or Bama -UT, to all be played at the west schools one year, and all at the schools the next year.
Then you do the opposite with the random game that same season.
For example, this year all the East hosted all the West schools (Bama @ Tenn, AU @ UGA, etc.), while the West schools hosted the random games (UK @ Bama, UGA @ ole miss)

Bama's conference schedule has been a bit similar to Auburn's where one year we finish with 2 away games, the next, 2 homes games. It's has been against State and Auburn.

So, one year, you play all the home SEC games by the first week of November (home to LSU), and the next, you only get 2 home games before State and Auburn in late November. And those will be Arkansas and UT.
