It's just that Notre Dame is a famous university where you're more than just a graduate.
You're a member of an exclusive club.

: kige :

If Holyfield wants exclusive good old boy network, Georgetown is the Catholic school to send him to. Notre Dame is for the also ran Catholics.

Jesuits > Sisters of the Holy Cross

Everybody in Vatican City knows this.

I was drawing degrees off the top of my head that I'd heard during Vandy's intros Thursday. I really should have thought that one though, but I didn't.

ETA: Also, economics really isn't in my field of expertise. I was under the impression an economics degree was pretty universal, not one that has a big difference in value amongst major universities. Certainly not a 5 to 1 between ND and UGA.
No shite. Also consider the possibility of early graduation and the option of getting a masters in Econ or Finance, dude will be making 90k-100k starting off.

I wouldn't dispute the fact that Notre Dame is probably better from a post-grad view, all things being equal.

One thing Richt has done is taken steps to keep current players and alumni plugged into business networks - there was a good article a couple months back on it. I would imagine other schools do something similar, but if the kid wants to chase his dream and be an NFL running back, there is really no comparison between ND and UGA at the present time. Throw in the fact that UGA is a decent academic school, and Evander kind of looks silly.

Especially when he says the value of the education of 250k vs 50k. What the hell is he basing that on?

It's the brand associated with the name. It's more than a school. It's an institution.

Notre Dame has that kind of brand. Not to the same degree as Harvard, but it does have it.

I absolutely agree with this.

I guess he doesn't mind his son being part of a school that is founded on a false religion that may influence his eternal destiny.
