I don't think I would be taking finical advise from someone that made $250 Million in his career and went bankrupt.
Or take life advise from someone who has 11 kids with 6 different women..

Look, we can probably agree most any ranking will have some inherent ranking bias, and even without said bias, the south will have long suffering historical and image bias from folks not actually experienced with education in regions they have not ventured to live in.
That being said, some formal ranking at least attempts to create order than a bunch of us on here measuring dicks amongst ourselves. (don't get excited TAMU fans, it was metaphoric dick measuring and not actual dick measuring.

You'd ranke Georgia ahead of Emory? I guess maybe overall.....it is still considered a very good medical school, or has it changed? I honestly haven't looked at school rankings in a long, long time. If you rank Georgia ahead of Emory, then what other two schools would you put above Georgia....I mean GT, of course. That is a given, but I know a lot of people say once you get outside of Engineering they are a more average school.....again, I don't really know or care. At one time Berry was considered top 3, but I have heard it has dropped.

I think any parent who loves their child would want them to go to Notre Dame over UGA. It's a no-brainer.

I'm saying that I'm going to side with a plethora of American rankings and American public opinion over Shanghai rankings, yes.
It's all subjective. I'm not going to pretend that LSU is in the academic class of Notre Dame, however. Why would I?

And I can understand this, too. Whether it is true or not Notre Dame is PERCEIVED to be a MUCH better school. But for the sake of argument, let's say Georgia is the better school....perception is more powerful than actuality in many cases. If you see someone with a degree from Notre Dame, you typically are more impressed. How much in the grand scheme of things does the degree from a particular university help or hurt? I don't know.

I don't hate Emory but I think much of their rankings are due to the medical side. Some relatives went there (siblings who could not get in Vandy) and I love them but no damn common sense among them. Bless their hearts.

I got you, and for the record I agree with you. A degree from Notre Dame is more impressive than one from Georgia. I was just being nit picky about your wording. IHATE it when people strain gnats with me, and there I was doing the same to you. My apologies.

1/2) Tech/Emory
3) UGA
I'm tempted to put UGA ahead of Emory. Emory kids can be terrible and are often avoided by firms in Atlanta. Huge generalization, of course, but I know of partners at AmLaw firms in Atlanta who went to Emory but avoid hiring Emory kids. It's not really specific to me.
For value, Tech and UGA are at the top, without question.

I think a few years ago Emory was caught reporting statistics that helped bump up their educational rankings. I still tend to think of them as a very good school, though.

Everyone knows Georgia is an incredible university, from undergraduate studies to graduate studies.
It's just that Notre Dame is a famous university where you're more than just a graduate. You're a member of an exclusive club.
Let's assume Notre Dame and UGA are equal. Try this comparison. Your son or daughter is applying to business school and gets accepted into Cal Berkeley and Harvard. Very little separates the schools academically. Which one would you want your child to pick? For me, it would be Harvard. U.S. Presidents, Senators, Fortune 500 CEO's, are what make up their alumni base.
It's the brand associated with the name. It's more than a school. It's an institution.
Notre Dame has that kind of brand. Not to the same degree as Harvard, but it does have it.

Notre Dame is a Catholic cult school. If any parent sends their child there, they truly do not love their children.
