I thought they added 2 when they joined the SEC.

Because we already have East and West divisions. And we know Missouri wanted to be in the Big 10 and we don't do North stuff. That's why.

The only reasonable solution to the constant conference expansion woes is as follows:
1) Missouri is kicked out of the SEC; they are not a match culturally and, unlike every other FBS conference, we are the only one who has a similar culture across the bord
2) Birmingham tells Columbia and Gainesville to hush and adds Clemson and Florida State as members
3) Birmingham pulls a major power play and adds Texas as conference member
4) The division are as follows:

East:
Clemson
Florida
Florida State
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

West:
Alabama
Auburn
Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Texas
Texas A&M

Combined, the conference would have a cumulative 43 claimed national championships (1 - Clemson; 3 - Florida; 3 - Florida State; 2 - Georgia; 1 - Kentucky; 5 - Tennessee; 14 - Alabama; 1 - Arkansas; 2 - Auburn; 3 - LSU; 3 - Ole Miss; 4 - Texas; 1 - Texas A&M)

Upvote, I like it.

Ole Miss could actually make it to ATL with those divisions.

I've been in favor of annually realigning divisions based on the previous season's records. It makes sense. Leaving divisions as is without regard to performance is actually quite antiquated. True, you never know for sure how a team will perform the next season, but realigning the divisions makes just as much sense as leaving them the same, IMO.

I've been advocating a rotating schedule. if the rivalry games have to be played every year you could still work the schedule around those games.

Would basically end OOC and you could still take the best two teams for a championship if needed.

You put the original Dixieland in the North?

As for the stupid discussion about super conferences... you guys know it existed once? The SoCon had damn near every member of what is now the SEC and the ACC combined so you can go ahead and drop that idea.

You can also talk about all the history you want but the reason Mizzou and A&M were brought in were for new markets so when the money got split 14 ways we all still go more. Bring in a Clemson and that split is lessened for each.

The very fact you would ask such a stupid question clearly indicates why you don't belong in the SEC. That is worse than the all boy cheerleading squad (not by much) at aTm.

I love this. I know some SC folks may not want clemson, but damn this would be one bad arse conference. Even more than it already is.

another reason this works is it allows a 4 team conference playoff, getting rid of one bye week for adding the +1, and give the SECN an additional bonus of 2 more of the best marketable conference games, (this is the point were we say FU CBS, you ain't gettin none).
