Alabama is every team they play's entire season. Programs spend offseasons working on game plans to beat them.

So, because of everything he has built and worked to achieve, he shouldn't receive the credit for it?

Do you really think he cares? The only people that care are fans. He's a great coach. But anytime somebody plays Alabama close or beats Alabama, they have done a great job coaching. Saban is head and shoulders better than any other coach in the country, and that includes Urban Meyer.

No, no I totally understand why he deserves recognition. I just think it's silly how guys like Saban and Jimbo get dinged for having blue chip talent, but say, Dabo Swinney doesn't.

Look at the difference in the talent, then look at the difference in the results. Jimbo is overrated, in my opinion. He has great classes every year, and his results of late have been good, but not great. 2013, was great. Other than that....good. Real good maybe. But FSU and Alabama talent is far better than Clemson's.

Put things in perspective: in the Iron Bowl, AU averaged 4.04 yards per snap, managed 7 first downs, and scored 12 points.

Perspective? Georgia almost did that to Auburn. You still think what Alabama did was special? They have MUCH better talent than Georgia. Yes, I know you had injuries against Georgia. But some of those injuries were still there against Alabama.

You are not understanding his point because you left off the important part of his post. It's not having that one impressive game that is difficult. Every team has those games. It's having them over and over and over that is difficult.

But getting talent to your school is part of your coaching job.

If It Was Just His Recruiting getting Them You Might Have A Case. Anybody Can Have Boosters Hand Out Cars And Then Throw 11 5*s On The Field And Watch Them Make Plays. If It Was Him Then We Would Have Seen It Against ULM In 07 And Alot Better Showing At Lsu.

He's 12-0 with a freshman quarterback. Everyone told us that isn't possible

Seeing that you have about 6 or more NFL starters on defense, it's really not that hard to plug a running qb in on offense and win, heck if jermey Johnson could w... never mind.

For the same reason that an Ohio State head coach hasn't won the Big Ten coach of the year award since 1979. It's expected of them.

Actually what he is doing is more impressive than every coach when you consider the HC's complete job is to build a staff, recruit players, develop players, develop game plans, and coach games that result in wins.

Not to mention keeping every player, 18-22 years old, focused like a laser at all times. Tell me one other coach in America who does a better job at that than Saban.

You missed the point.

It's not so much that what they did to AU was special - it's that what they did to AU was in the BOTTOM THIRD of their defensive performances.

More perspective: UGa shut down the AU offense. It was y'alls best statistical defensive performance all year. You held us a full 2 yards below your season per-play average, and held us to the fewest yards, first downs, and points scored on your defense all season.

Bama's defense held EIGHT TEAMS to fewer yards per snap than they held us. They held NINE teams to fewer points.

Their performance against us was, judging by the rest of their season, was run-of-the-mill. THAT is what makes their entire season special.

With his talent he shouldn't lose.

The award goes to coaches exceeding expectations through coaching with inferior talent.
