I don't have a dawg in the fight, but IMO they're still sensitive about how the media handled their probation.

The only place I argue with State fans is on here... In person, our fan bases are actually pretty hospitable to each... The sidewalkers and the bitter old fogies are the terrible ones IRL... And the really frickin drunk ones... Of course.

When I was back there last year it seems like the state is being taken over by MSU fans. Growing up I really only remember Ole Miss and Bama fans (except for my uncle) but when I went back I saw a ton of bulldog stuff.
My grandad says it is due to the many MSU branches all over the state.

Mullen winning 4 out of the last 5 Egg Bowls has probably caused more people with some sort of allegance to MSU but at one point didn't care about MSU / Croom football to sticker up their vehicle. We have fairweather fans just like everyone else.

Now ULL fans have started a petition to get Stevens his job back, although there's a strong rumor Ole Miss fans are actually behind the whole thing.
