Veazey was a basketball fan. He hated covering football for anyone
He was well received at MSU, but OM fans hammered him for not pumping sunshine about a terrible, all time low Houston Nutt, no mascot program.
The OM hate for Veazey toward the end was way worse than MSU vs any beat writer. His last article was a week long graph and chart explaining how bad OM athletics as a whole were at the time.. That was his swan song there. He gave no fricks and for good reason.

and Stevens for being a pompous jerk that wrote the misleading hit piece about Will Redmond
Oh please explain to me how it was misleading. I'm looking forward to hearing your answer.

Because he released the article before a lot of information was solid? It made it sound like the school had been proven guilty of giving the kid money? And that he had knowingly taken it? When in reality he got a used mustang for $1,000 cheaper than it's estimated value? I don't have to have a reason for disliking him? Because I don't like how many shitty journalists get paid money for bad products?

Don't you see? Stevens wrote the following in his "misleading hit piece":
Whereas the actual NCAA investigation found,
MISLEADING HIT PIECE!
quote:
Sources close to the situation have confirmed to The Dispatch MSU Sports Blog the investigation, at least in part, involves an automobile purchased for MSU freshman defensive back Will Redmond. The Ford Mustang was purchased before Redmond signed with MSU this February from a used car dealership in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn.
Whereas the actual NCAA investigation found,
quote:
[D]uring the recruitment, the booster exchanged more than 100 phone calls with the recruit, assisted the recruit in securing a car to drive to a campus visit and provided cash to the recruit on multiple occasions. Additionally, the booster and his friend provided a car to the recruit for approximately $2,000 below the actual value of the car. Prior to taking an official visit to a different university, the booster told the recruit that if he did not take the visit, the recruit would be paid $6,000.
MISLEADING HIT PIECE!

You know, because car dealerships rarely come off the price of a used car...

The initial article implied that MSU boosters bought him a car, when in fact, he purchased his own used car from a dealership and dealer that wasn't and isn't an MSU booster or fan. The whole penalty on the car was bullshite.
The specific wording and the amount of inaccuracies in the official release are the main reason we've been on a multi-year witch hunt to totally overturn our compliance dept, which is headed by a failed PE teacher from Starkville High School instead of a former NCAA Compliance member or lawyer.
Yes, some of us know the "rogue booster" who never gave a statement despite Joe Schad and everyone else calling him. The fact is, what we got in trouble for gets swept under the rug literally everywhere else in the country.

Redmond looked solid towards the end of the season. Well worth it IMO.

Yeah it's a shame he had to forfeit a year, kid has a lot of potential, our DB's should be nasty this year.

We all loved Ian Rappaport when he was our beat writer and now he's on the NFL network and could eventually replace Mort or John Clayton as an insider

I just quoted the initial article, which reported that the situation "involves an automobile purchased for MSU freshman defensive back Will Redmond," which is exactly what the NCAA report found ("the booster and his friend provided a car to the recruit for approximately $2,000 below the actual value of the car"). So Stevens wrote a "misleading hit piece" when his report was confirmed by the NCAA report? I think what he did there was called "journalism."

I don't. It just would be nice to have a dedicated Ole Miss vs MSU forum as any of these threads sound like an old couple bickering.

Oh yeah, because NCAA "confirming" anything means it's without a shadow of a doubt, 100% correct.
