We need to kick A&M and Mizzou back out so A&M can man up and play the school in Austin 90 miles away again. Losing 59-0 to Alabama should automatically get you out and all Mizzou did was get steamrolled by Bama in Atlanta

great idea, maybe keep Texas A & M

Inevitable, do it or succumb to invisibility. Easy.

Meh A&M can stay, too much Texas money. Arkansas should be voted off the island along with Missouri if we go back to 12

I have to agree with the Rebel enemy here. At some point it's going to kill any chances of anyone winning a title out of the Sec.
Lets say we brought in Oklahoma (a solid program) and then someone else who is pretty good that benefits off the conference and now becomes a bigger draw for top recruits. After a while you're going to see a confrence beating up each other even worse than it already does.
And before you Alabama fans chime in how it won't hurt you because you are the greatest, Nick Sabam's of the world don't come around too often and he will eventually retire.
I think the conference is already strong enough as it is. Why invite trouble?

What's the logic in adding two more teams? The whole point we got A&M and Mizzou was due to SEC Network nnegotiations. These two teams added the Texas and Midwest markets. Adding an Oklahoma would not add any large market and would only serve to divide the share of money by another team. If the SEC were ever to expand it would be to a new state in a decent market like NC or Virginia.
I think that "16" feels like a more "ideal" number than "14", since we are human beings and we like patterns. Like, "super conferences" are only here in some people's minds when we get to 16. Why isn't 14 considered a "super conference"? Because someone once upon a time said 16 was the magic number?

Nobody smart wants the SEC to expand.
The brand is already diluted enough and the league is already up to its eyes in money.
Adding new teams only creates logistical problems and devalues the brand as a whole.

I dont think many of us WANT it to, its just been accepted as inevitable.
There are probably going to be only 4 FBS conferences by 2021, if not sooner

No there won't.

Sorry. Based on our academics, money and overall athletic department A&M would be the last 1 or 2 schools to leave if the SEC was ever downsized.

I agree to a point but it will wind up being 5 top super conferences, not 4. The rest will be like playing a non-1A program every year.

Not that I want A&M kicked out or anything.

Would love for my Tar Heels to be SEC. We would heavily help out in basketball & be a solid SEC East football squad as well. Baseball would improve.

That's all it is. If Texas and/or OU refuse to sign an extension to their current GOR the XII is on a death watch.
The question then becomes: Is the SEC better off adding XII choice plums like Oklahoma, Texas and/or Kansas rather than watching them join another conference (the B1G in particular)?
Jim Delaney has made no bones about taking the Big Ten beyond 16 and adding the three remaining XII's with name cache would make it highly profitable to them. That said, would Texas ego and insecurity allow them to be just another school in a real super conference? I'm not sure.
So yes, it's not about wanting to expand. It's more wondering about the possible outcomes.

Most of the stupid posts about expanding are from fricking kids still in high school or just out and dont understand anything about tradition.
The SEC was a 10 member conference for a damn long time after Ga Tech & Tulane withdrew and wanted academics as a priority.
Along came Ark & SC and now we have A&M and Missouri, fine, but no need for more.

As a newbie SEC member, I'll just sit here and watch the discussion.
I would like to say that movement by any conference needs to be a win-win.
We brought TV markets, money and recruiting.
We received money, independence and security.
What does Oklahoma (and possibly Oklahoma State) bring?
Again, we are just happy to be here. We'll do whatever the SEC decides.

OU and OSU tried to get into the PAC without Texas and were turned away.
OU fans have convinced themselves that the SEC only cares about football (not academics or TV markets) and would welcome OU and OSU with open arms.
Some OU fans have been trolling the boards to try and convince SEC fans that they are a good addition, but they keep leaving out OSU.

Damn straight and these newbies are telling us about their feelings for more expansion. Bunch of 18 year olds who don't know shite about history. Especially these new idiots already telling us who we should boot from the conference.

Why do some want the SEC to expand?
We could move to 9 conference games like the rest of the p5 conferences.
Would you also remove the FCS games?
The only issue about 9 games is 4 SEC East teams have in-state rivalries with ACC members. My solution is to host that team when you have 4 SEC home games & to go there when there are 5 home games.
