This isn't an attack of LF7...it's a questioning of LSU fans.

LSU fans didn't create those expectations FWIW

They sure helped in making them on this board.

is it because they have spent the last 3 years (4 counting his recruitment) pumping him up to be the greatest thing since cochon de lait and they refuse to admit he didn't live up to their expectations?

It's this one.

No matter what anyone says he didn't live up to expectations.....now were expectations too high? That is certainly debatable.

They most certainly were a driving factor....obviously Leonard had his own expectations but I think LSU fans created a lot of the hype around Fournette going back to when he was at St. Aug.

It's crazy to think that fans would post about one of their own players.

Haven't you heard? They've moved on and now Guice is going to be the greatest of all time. They'll be defending him when he has 35 yards against Bama next year.

Same here, I have enjoyed watching him play his college career at LSU. On the other hand there were times when I thought he took plays off. I did not see out of him what people call once in a generation type player. What I saw was a gifted individual who played to protect his stock.
I also never understood why so many non LSU gave a flying frick about LF. I never understood why so many fans from other programs have tried to tarnish his career when he did not have success against their team. They act like just because the guy had a rough outing he is worthless. We have seen Peterson, McFadden, Ingram, Elliot etc.... have bad game but go own to have success after college.

You see this particular question makes it seem as though you lack common sense

I don't think anyone is doubting his NFL potential.

I'm convinced some of the posters on this board shouldn't be allowed to drive

There's a difference between posting about your players and what LSU fans have done with Fournette.

So major NFL potential, injury ridden his final season, yet still the best RB in LSU history

I guess we shouldn't defend him because...?

News flash: Fournette was touted as the next AP on espn as a HS senior

This board has 10X the LSU fans than any other fan base

It's really not that hard to figure out. Have another cup of coffee and come back

I believe this is the phrase that most other fans are bothered by, "once in a generation type player". For some reason to me personally if you are going to put that kind of tag on a player before he even sees the field it's going to raise some hackles, especially when the rest of the football world just doesn't see it.

For the most part I think he was a great ambassador for the school and did much better than average, I did loose a little respect of the Sterling T-Shirt but that is the only negative I can recall.

He understands that

It's about the vigor baw

Defending him is one thing, but when you vigorously defend him, that's where OP gets confused
