Both legendary backs. Hard to say which was better. If you could have either one completely healthy at their prime, which would you choose? Flip a coin.

Nobody will want to hear it, but Henry his Junior year in 2015 was on that level. His numbers were better, and he willed that team to a NC as a workhorse that nobody could stop even when they knew he was coming. He gets lost in the shuffle of all the great Saban players--but that season was the SEC's best, historically for a reason.

Can't compare modern day stats vs the run dominant era of the 80's.

8 in the box back in those days was base defense.

Two greats we are discussing here, earth will end before the debate will.

Earl, Bo, Herschel, Jim Brown and the one we never really got to appreciate in Marcus Dupree are the power speed guys that blow my mind.

The idea that these guys were bigger than everyone off the line of scrimmage back in those days ads to the legend.

Another we missed getting to see was MLB OF Dave Henderson. Took top draft bonus $ once he heard Freeman McNeil was headed to UCLA, but he was cut of the sale rare cloth as these genetic freaks.

Earl thighs and Bo torso. Saw him vertically leap a shopping cart sideways once.. flat footed.

Bo and Herschel will always get extra credit among their very small peer group.from that golden 70's-80's era. The track, baseball and MMA heroics take the legend to another level.

To imagine these alpha beasts were considered inferior in their early ages.

They don't sound so "expert" now do they?

I watched them both play..Herschel is the best college football player I've ever seen. UGA was junk when he arrived and they were junk when he left.

Bo was an awesome athlete...but he's a myth. He's a what if? A human highlight reel of wow moments, but nothing long term.

As far as the stats...in the words of the old ball coach..stats are for losers, which Auburn did a lot of during Bo's tenure. Meanwhile, UGA lost 4 games in 3 years with Walker, won 3 straight SEC Championships and a NC.

So Bo was in the backfield with other greats? Yep, he sure was and it kept Defense's honest. Walker was the offense at UGA...Everyone knew he was getting the ball and he still got it done.

One more tidbit...Bo played in the wishbone. If the QB ran for 4 yards, pitched it to Bo for 10 more..Bo got credit for all 14 yards. HW played in the I...toss right, toss left, Walker up the gut.

If Bo was as good as Herschel, then Pat Dye is a dumbass, he should have given him the ball more and maybe Auburn could have actually won more than 1 SEC championship and been 2-2 in the iron bowl while Bo was there.

The purpose of the game is to WIN. UGA won with Walker..Auburn was average with Bo except for his sophomore year.

When your team finishes 5th in the SEC at 8-4 during your Heisman season...well, you're no Herschel Walker

Because he played for Auburn.
South Catolina fans say it's George Rogers.
Florida says Emmitt Smith.
Oklahoma says Barry Simms.
Ok State says Barry Sanders.
Wisconsin can't decide between Monte Ball and Ron Dayne.
Southern Cal says OJ?
It's all subjective.
All can make an argument.
I'll vote Bo - just because he flattened the Boz!

That's great and all, but Herschel still had 344 more career carries than Bo. That's a season and a half for most RBs

That's about three games worth for Derrick Henry...

They went to the NFL and Hershcel was just an average RB, nothing special about him at all. Bo walked in halfway through the season in baseball shape, to come to his off-season hobby that he didn't care about which was football, and split time with a hall of famer and was STILL good enough to be considered one of the best RBs in NFL history.
Nobody other than a barner calls Bo one of the best RB in NFL history.

Bo wasn't even mediocre in either sport.

What someone might have done will never touch what someone did.

Any team would love to have any of those 4. Bo and Hershel are once every few year backs or once a decade. Championships are built around team depth not record setting running backs.

My guess is you're a very young man.
Nothing wrong with that, just saying.
Bo and Herschel were once in a LIFETIME running backs. And, back in the day, a RB like HW did, pretty much, win that championship single - handedly.
Not being a homer either.

31 years and 34 years.

That's how long it has been since either of those guys has run the ball for their college teams and you are arguing about it. Here's the fact we can all agree upon - they both suck compared to what Damarea Crockett is going to do for Mizzou this year.
