I mean the numbers don't lie right?

Season with >6 Yards Per Carry

Bo Jackson- 3
Herschel Walker - 0

Mark Ingram - 1

Herschel was a system running back who racked up yards on volume carries. Guys like Bo Jackson competed with guys like Brent Fullwood drafted top 5 RD1 for carries and still got his yards

Better overall athlete? Hershel was fighting MMA at 50 years old.

Obviously I love HW as a Dawgs fan, but Bo was a great RB. He definitely passed the eye test.

WTF are you talking about? It was even hard for HW running out of the I formation for 3 years.EVERYONE on the opposing defenses knew he was getting the ball
and VD was a painfully unimaginative coach.

System???Take a look at UGA's running game in '83 (the year after he left)If there was a system in place it sure as HeLL didn'the work very well.

One of my HS teammates played with Bo at Auburn.
My buddy that played with him taught Bo how to shoot a bow and arrow.

That was one thing Bo didn't know. Bo didn't know bow. But he learned very quickly according to my buddy.

It's not so much who's a better running back. That is conjecture. And there are other guys who could make an argument beyond those two guys. Barry Sanders, Adrian Peterson, Darren McFadden, et.al.

But they write books and make movies about Bo Jackson. He's the closest thing to a real life superhero this country has seen since Jim Thorpe. Herschel WAS Georgia Football when I was a kid and he is among the all-time greats, but Bo is like a Greek god who will live in folklore for all time. Herschel not so much.

I briefly met Bo outside Fenway Park when he played for KC.

they are separated by almost 1000 yards and Herschel didn't play his senior season.

And still had about a season's worth of carries more than Bo.

Let's be honest. Neither were as good as Derrick Henry or Mark Ingram.

They went to the NFL and Hershcel was just an average RB, nothing special about him at all.

He finished his career with 13084 total yards of offense (18168 all purpose yards) and 84 TDs. If he had started out his career in the NFL he would've most likely had well over 10K rushing yards and may have had a legit argument for being a HOFer. So he was better than an "average " RB.

And when creating a list of greatest RBs most people wouldn't include Bo because to be considered among the greatest you actually have to play a lot. Bo is more in the "what if" category. He may have been in the HOF had he focused on FB and stayed healthy.

There may never have been a debate that has gone on longer than this in the SEC. I've heard it ever since I was in college.

I think I'm going to name my next band "Bo or Herschel"

Sure you do. This list on NFL.com just came out a couple weeks ago:
27 greatest NFL running backs of all time

#14. Bo Jackson

I don't see anybody named Herschel Walker listed

Bo is still a big time Bow Hunter.

That list was BS. They had Zeke Elliot at 26 after just one season and Barry Sanders at 8.

I'm not saying Hershel Walker is one of the greatest RBs in NFL history but saying he was an average back is very inaccurate. He had a solid career.
