I think it speaks more to how garbage the rest of your QBs are if Kelly is No.2.

This is rich coming from an LSU fan

I could have swore I read that Michael Smith went down and watched him throw at his high school for like 5 minutes and he basically had an offer then and there. He's basically the second coming of Ryan Mallet. Except he is a little bigger than Mallet was. Which is crazy to consider. He must have a hell of an arm.

You realize being #2 on the depth chart at Arkansas doesnt mean a thing right now, right?

It means a hell of a lot more than being even #1 at LSU. Hell, I would take our 4th string QB before taking ANY QB Les Miles has ever dealt with.

This entire thread is meant to point out the fact that LSU is notoriously awful at evaluating QB talent.

Its not only that they are awful, they are extremely lazy.

The can't be bothered to check out local NFL talent in the area because the websites haven't put enough stars next to their name. Classic case of a staff trying to cater to the fanbase, see Coker @ Miami, etc.

You know, you're probably right.
I think that's been Les Miles's problem for a few years now. He has gotten complacent. Also see Mack Brown at Texas. What happens usually is that recruiting takes a nose dive. Mack missed out on Johnny Manziel, for instance. I think they go lax on their talent evals and then miss out on talent like the Cole Kelley's of the world.

Mack didn't miss out on Manziel, he offered him as a DB like many other schools.

That is a difference in evaluation, Stoops offered Matt Jones as a WR (as well as everyone else) Nutt offered him as a QB, while a good college QB his future was at WR.

That is a different topic than not recruit a local guy because the star gazers won't be happy.

If you have character issues you dont get recruited to Arkansas period

Same thing I would say if I couldn't pull in a top 20 class I guess.

What do you say when you can't beat a team that doesn't pull in top 20 classes?

Do you think LSU will ever be able to recruit at a high enough level to beat Arkansas again? Stay within 3 scores? Congrats on the Rivals stars though, I guess

Are you new here?

It Bama's fault, Saban made the team quit.

What amazes me is that they've been essentially blown out two years in a row and think that shite is going to change in one offseason.
Baby steps should be the approach.
Like with Alabama. After two straight 52-0 losses, only a retard would have thought they were going to come out and actually win the game the next year. You gotta build up to something like that. Same with LSU. They need to focus on getting within two possessions of tying, before they swing for the fences and try to win.

Right,

I should have been more specific and asked if there was anything you could say that would make any sense.

He's already our 2nd string qb beating out 3 top 250 guys including Ricky towns

Ricky Towns, who already left Southern Cal because he couldn't crack the depth chart?

Hell, what an accomplishment.

Yeah I will agree that it's looking like Ricky Town was drastically overrated by the recruiting folks.

I think he is damaged goods upstairs (in the head). I don't think he cares too much. I mean, he's been here over a year and hasn't bothered to learn the playbook.

Otherwise he is a hell of a talent and I'm glad he is a hog. He can give the scout team a good look at what it's like to face a good QB.

If this changes and he begins to apply himself, I will feel bad for saying it, but I just don't think his heart is in it.

Yeah, yay.
Mallet was a damn good QB for the Hogs. One of the best of all time.

Mallett rustled many on this board, so they aren't looking forward to the comparison.

LSU's reasons not to recruit Kelly had nothing to do with football.
