Unlike Kiffin and Ed O's apartment at UT for plowing co-ed's.

As bizarre as it may seem, I think this is the correct answer. Those coaches make a ton of money, but in my opinion, being the HC at an P5 power has got to be incredibly draining.

the time off gave Urban a chance to decompress and heal up a bit.

It's quite possible that Coach Meyer had recruited so many thugs (and I mean very dangerous thugs)on his team that he felt that he and his family were no longer safe. I find it quite possible that a few of his players were sending a vibe that if he "disses" them they would retaliate against Meyer and his family...not outright saying it...but just insinuating it. At Ohio State...you stand much less chance of this happening.

you, sir, are retarded

It would seem that maybe some bits & pieces of everything ya'll have posted might have been contributing factors to him leaving UF, but, I will just go with this: he's an Ohio guy, born and raised... maybe, in a time of high stress in his life, the guy just wanted to go home and be closer to what and who he knows?

My favorite parts here are the reinvention of Cam Newton, the angelic one. Quite spiritual.

So...let me see if I follow you here. They forced him out for breaking a Federal law under the guise of health issues. Then, they allowed him back for a year after health issues were cited as the reason that he would resign after the SECCG. Then, they re-cited the health issues again the following year. Seems a stretch.

We won't even mention his involvement in the Kennedy assassination.

I'm not sure we will ever get an answer. I watched the HBO piece on his decision and the interviews with his daughters and wife were pretty revealing, they definitely thought something was seriously wrong with him.

This. Just look at his body language his final year at year and half at UF. I think he really wanted to hang it up but since he was an Ohio boy through and through, he couldn't say no to coaching the Buckeyes.

He was forced out when he leaked information about Cam Newton supposedly cheating on his exams or some shite, which is federally protected information. Of course Florida and ESPN let him leave with dignity, allowing him to use the "health and family" excuse.

This is 100% unmitigated bullshite. What do you think the penalties are for FERPA violations? Imprisonment?

Quick recovery time.

What? One year out and all family problems fixed?

Sorry just skeptical. For whatever reason, he wanted out of Florida. The whole I am retired/not retired kind of reinforced that.

I doubt being HC of Ohio State gives him more family time than Florida did.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great move for him. He is recruiting king in the B1G and only has to worry about maybe two teams a year.

You dumb arse! He had thugs on that team who were actively gang banging...Aaron Hernandez was probably shooting people on the days he wasn't playing football....or maybe he was on those days as well. Retarded would be a huge step up for you!

You Auburn fans are on fire in this thread. Delusional, but on fire none the less. Cam had absolutely nothing to do with him quitting.
He was scared shitless about his health problems. It turned out to be nothing serious, but scared him nonetheless. But the real reason was Tebow left, Saban built a monster and he quit. Not to mention he was banging someone other than his wife, in G'Ville.
And before you throw stones at our thug program, how many Auburn football players have been shot in the past 2 or 3 years, at the same apartment complex?
If Auburn can afford $1.6 million for a D coordinator. You think they could afford to hire security for an apartment complex, maybe?

This is false. Had a pair of EE professors at UF call out a few cheaters, and inform the class of their efforts to dismiss them from the program and/or university. Not sure what the follow through was... But 1. I knew who the cheaters were and 2. I was too damn scared to "collaborate" on assignments for those courses.

To suggest that Florida had a lot of thugs on those teams is not an attempt to slander UF...that stuff can and does happen everywhere...blame the NCAA for that by limiting the amount of time a coach can spend with recruits. It's easy to hide ones true self in just a few visits. Alabama...Auburn..Florida...and so on....all have had thugs.

Heard this but the converse was floating around long before... Shelley was getting some personal training from the local gym. Amazing the rumors created from his resignation.

Could be what happened...just means he would be looking for a replacement co-ed at tOSU. Leopard...spots...and such.
