Oh yeah. He left the SEC because the SEC will flat out kick your arse. The worst thing that ever happened to Meyer was the playoff. Because instead of a BCS POS game, he's now going to have to earn it. Which means beating the SEC. Which means he's about to get one broke off in his arse.
His worst nightmare. Coming true. Going to be fun to watch.

Hey man, I believe you, because if any player was ever caught cheating on an exam, only three people would ever know at a university. No one outside of that university would ever learn of the occurrence either.
Meyer had to leak it out, because that was the only thing that made sense for him to be kicked off the team, it wasn't like he faced criminal charges or anything.
Bravo, on cracking the case, I'm sure the Illuminati had a part in it somehow someway.

He wasn't going to beat Saban again.

I heard his wife made him leave after he got caught screwing around with a co-ed. Just saying.

Honestly?
Couldn't take the heat. Saw Nick Saban coming and knew he would drop.

He was scared of Saban and also, Florida isn't that attractive of a program any longer. A brutal schedule in the SEC every year and your rivals have a much easier opponent slate. Saban has all the big time coaches scared to come to the SEC. It will take someone with guts to face Saban like Malzahn and Mcelwayne definitely has the desire to go against his former Master. Will he succeed?

I'm not sure we will ever get an answer. I watched the HBO piece on his decision and the interviews with his daughters and wife were pretty revealing, they definitely thought something was seriously wrong with him.
He often would make comments that his 6 years felt like 12. I think it is entirely possible with a small rebuild looming, all the off-the-field issues and the high expectations he was just burned out.

I have no idea why he left. Whether he didn't want to compete, or his own reason's were legit, or some of these other explanations are true, I have no idea.
But it's looking like a great move. I respect UF and I'm way more interested in them than I am in Ohio State. But that isn't shared by too many people outside of SEC country. Florida doesn't get the same attention at OSU. It gets PLENTY, but it's not on the same level as Ohio State in the eyes of the media and country. His time at UF really helped to start his amazing coaching legacy but if he does it at Ohio State it could potentially shoot him to the very top. And the big thing is it'll be easier to achieve at OSU.
If he isn't as successful though, he's gonna be kicking himself thinking about the teams he could have coached at UF from 2010-whenever in this down East.

Yep I think Urban honestly quit for health concerns caused by the fact that he was driving a crazy train. We have only later learned just how crazy his program was, but he definitely knew and it drove him to the verge of collapse.
The "scared of Saban" theory is a bunch of bullshite. Never known any coach at that level to be scared of competition, much less a coach that had won 2 championships in 3 years and possessed a .500 record against Saban.

He hated the dirty nature of SEC recruiting (not that he isn't one of the slimiest) and the constant off field issues that come with talent. Cam blowing up at AU was the straw that broke the camel's back, he basically took his ball and went home.

He had turned the program into the college-athlete version of a penitentiary. The inmates ran the team and he didn't have control over the situation anymore

It's working to his advantage for at least this season. He was never going to be ranked #2 with that loss to Virginia Tech.

It's just trolling but I also think there was a lot of internal pressure in general -- not just to win but to play certain players.
I've always maintained that if people thought Brantley outplayed Cam Newton instead of a bit o' Nepotism (his dad and Uncle played for Florida, are boosters and had NFL careers) that they're out of it.
The atmosphere around Florida at that time was insane, and I really do think he had health problems from the stress.

Of course I have no idea why Coach Meyer really left Florida. But I do have a theory of my own.
It's quite possible that Coach Meyer had recruited so many thugs (and I mean very dangerous thugs)on his team that he felt that he and his family were no longer safe. I find it quite possible that a few of his players were sending a vibe that if he "disses" them they would retaliate against Meyer and his family...not outright saying it...but just insinuating it. At Ohio State...you stand much less chance of this happening.
I don't believe losing to Coach Saban had anything to do with it. I could be wrong of course.

That may actually have some truth to it brbbama, I have heard the same thing from some boosters.

He had a many breakdown. It happens to millions of men his age. Some have affairs, some drink to much, some loose 30 lbs on a health kick, some change jobs, etc…Unfortunately for CUM his breakdown was witnessed by most of the CFB fans in America. He seems better now and many people that work through these life crisis come out stronger on the other side.
