Wow, Peyton almost went to Ole Miss. To think, Ole Miss could've won the National Championship

the year after he left.

Ding, ding, Ding... We have a winner.

Probation #1 and #1A Tuberville.

Seriously?

Wrong answer.

Peyton most likely would have chosen Ole Miss over anyone except for the probation. They may have tolerated Tuberville but not the probation.

You making a joke but the Mannings are like the Pied Piper. People just want to play with them and the talent would have definitely been drastically improved after back to back Mannings leading the way. Would the coaching be enough? We will never know.

No hate for Peyton because the Ole Miss faithful knew what time it was with the probation. No one was even upset with him the day he picked TN. Many didn't know about Tubs yet.

Rex Grossman > Ole Miss since the start of BCS

Rex Grossman has been to 2 BCS bowls and won a SEC championship.

He is a bitch though.

In the Manning book, Peyton said he would've gone to Ole Miss had Cooper not gotten injured, so that was the #1 reason.

It had a lot to do with 2 things. Cooper having that spinal problem and no longer being able to play...Peyton wanted to play with his brother.

Also, Ole Miss was getting ready to go on probation at the time of his recruitment which I believe really swayed him from Ole Miss.

The better question is why all the Ole Miss folks, such as my wife, still love Peyton?
Because his decision was understandable given the circumstances he would have found himself in at Ole Miss. We got stuck with a terrible probation, and were lucky to field teams that were as competitive as they were playing with a little over 50 scholarships for a while.

Peyton never did anything wrong to hate him. I believe he puts money into the program along with Archie, Eli, and Cooper.

I wouldn't have read a book by the Mannings. I wouldn't watch that shitty movie with Sandra B. either. I seriously doubt they told everything in that book. I don't them personally but I would bet you don't either.

I'm sure Cooper getting hurt was a big part but I still say the probaion was just as imporant, if not more important. Add in there Tubs... and you have a TN Volunteer on your hands.

And everyone absolutely understood with no animosity at all that I have ever seen toward the Mannings themselves. Maybe a little added to TN but not Peyton.

Cooper had a congenital narrowing of his spinal column. I don't think he actually had an injury but was experiencing weakness. Follow up studies revealed the spinal issue. They strongly recommended he give up football.

Well I did mention probation as being an important factor. However, just going by the quotes, you can reasonably say that if Cooper played for OM, Peyton would've as well - Peyton looked up to Cooper a lot.

Peyton also was blown away by his visit to Neyland/Knoxvegas- UT had the "major program" factor that really helped make his decision.

He wanted to lose to Florida 4 times in his career.

At Ole Miss he wouldn't have had that chance.

You're all wrong.

Peyton is smart, so he went to a better school.

Eli has Downs, so he went where he could get in---Ole Miss.

Tuberville was a non-factor since this occurred even before Brewer got fired. Had Cooper been playing, it would be really hard to believe that Peyton would still have gone to Tennessee.

Ole Miss was about to go on probation, so no one at the time knew who would be the next Ole Miss coach (Brewer going to be let go) and Cutcliffe hit it off with Peyton. I'm sure Cooper's injury played a part, but the turmoil surrounding the pending probation played a big part.
