2016: Minkah Fitzpatrick remaining at Star.
Isn't Minkah the starting corner now? Thought he was going to take Cryus' spot. Star was Maurices to lose. And he left, so it will probably belong to Tony Brown now.....Assuming he can get out of Sabans dog house and not be a moron.

This whole scenario will turn out great for Bama, as we will cherry pick from Georgias graduate players for the foreseeable future....thanks Bulldogs

Am I detecting some butthurt?

As the expert, could you tell us cause, symptoms, treatment and cure? There's a degree for this at UGA no?

Don't know how accurate it'll be, but al.com projected that Minkah would be the starting CB (opposite Humphrey) in the base D and would slide over to the slot in our nickel and dime packages, with Averett (or possibly Sheffield) on the outside in those packages...also mentioned that if Shyheim Carter looked good at the slot, Minkah might stay outside...

IIRC that was the plan, but Sheffield/Averett have looked good in the other spot and Minkah is so versatile that he's better staying at Star.

Because there were a ton of talented young DBs nipping at his heels. But I think he would still play a lot because of experience. Not not as much of a guarantee at Georgia. It's my understanding they have all starters back.

"Oh. And he already has a ring, right? "
This sums up the difference between the two schools. A ring is acceptable every 36 years vs competing for the ring every year.

He was suppose to start last year at the 5th or 6th DB spot, but Harrison and Fitzpatrick took those spots. Thompson, Sheffield or Brown would have kept Smith off the field this year.
Younger players are passing him on the depth chart, not a big loss for Bama.

You do realize that the rule did not change, right? no. You didn't.
It's good to hear that Saban will keep open scholarships for a player who could not start at another school.

Reading comprehension. It helps.

Depending on which Bama poster you talk to he was either going to get no playing time or he was going to be in for 60-75% of the snaps. It always hurts to lose depth....even for Alabama. Although if anybody can stand to lose a little it would be Alabama.

I'm with ya...as a UGA fan even I don't give a frick about this guy. I'm much more concerned about nick chubbs knee and the development if Eason.
99% of UGA fans will say the same

He's a decent depth guy who may could've been a solid nickel guy. Obviously he was uncomfortable with his situation and part of that concerned playing time. Four spots in the secondary are locked up: Jackson, Harrison, Fitz, Humphrey. He was the favorite at the last spot but there is talent there pushing. I guess he trusted Kirby and Tucker more, even though they didn't put him on the field much last year either.
Best of luck to him. It's not like we lost a lockdown guy, but his departure could be problematic if young guys falter or there are injuries. This whole situation seems to have propped him up to a level that he really isn't at but maybe he will bust out this year. I would guess that prior to this fiasco 95% of non-bama fans had never heard of the guy.
