The rant seems to have a rather thorough coating of it here lately.

Cause they were crazy. Everybody knows Charlie Strong was the guy for the job. But they didn't want African-American Coach with a white wife being the face of "Auburn Football." So they hired the dud they felt comfortable with. His record at Iowa State was 5-19 in two season. Nothing about that says winner.

5-19, 2010 National Title, 2012 nightmare..... one of the most up-and-down coaching sagas I've seen in all my years

I meant Gene the coach, not the entire program. I don't know if any Alabama coach hit the highs and lows Gene did in a period of 5 years.

Because when they interviewed the other guy they found out he was black.
I laughe so hard my vision blurred.
In all seriousness, Chizik gets hired for the same reason people keep going Charlie Weis.
NO ONE KNOWS

Charlie Weis.
I was actually a lot more surprised to find out that he managed to get another job than to find out that he's doing terribly at it.

The Malzahn hire was as confounding to me as the Chizik hire. What better way to cleanse your program of the cloud around it (and let's not pretend that there wasn't), than to re-hire a guy who left only a year before, by most accounts mutually. Malzahn was not very popular in Auburn after 2011. Couldn't believe they hired him back as head coach. But, I do think he can be successful.

[Sarcasm off] I was obviously kidding. [/Sarcasm off]
Then again they did interview and then hire a coach with a 5–19 record so who the frick knows what AU knew about their head coaching candidates before interviewing/hiring them.
They gave said coach that had a 5-19 record when hired and was struggling to maintain .500 record a buyout worth over 7 million dollars after one fluke of a season so clearly they have some issues

When it comes to Auburn football, the only people Jay will consider are former AU graduates and former AU coaches. Oh, and they must be men of "character and integrity" as he puts it. In other words, being a Bible-thumping Christian is a prerequisite.

You know who never beat that 5-19 coach?Yeah you know.

Auburn hired Chizik for the same reason Alabama hired Dubose: he was one of their own.
No one expected 2010, not even Auburn fans. Gene was supposed to hold the fort until Auburn could find a real coach. Unfortunately, Auburn went All In with Chizik when he hoisted the crystal and they're still sending him paychecks for it.

Got a good buddy that's an Auburn grad and he was 'all in' for the Chiz hire and I couldn't understand it at all. The guy was a loser from the get go. How the hell could anyone ever think that was a top level program hire?
So naturally I tortured him till Chiz was gone and he finally admitted to being brainwashed.
But seriously, how the hell would anyone with a football brain have thought that was going to be a good hire?

Drunk quarterbacks are the worst kind of quarterback
Congrats on 0-8 though. Looking forward to the next time we go to Auburn. I loved taking the trip in 2010 but I've heard that the campus has become engrossed with the smell of burning garbage since then.
Oh well. Itll be about a decade before we head back so maybe it'll be gone but I'm not optimistic about it. Yall will probably still be paying that 5-19 coach though

Ha, you act like none of us have ever been to Columbia. Ugliest big city in SC. Lots of trees can be planted at the fairgrounds but the area around Williams Brice is still a dump.
I have personally witnessed Spurrier and USC experience 2 of their worst loses at the hands of the Auburn Tigers. Try to actually beat us before taking backhanded jabs.
