I think TT might actually be a disguise for JJ
Jay Jacobs? Why else he so defensive and defending the Chiz?
Oh yeah, forgot. Auburn fan.

I'm very interested to see his offensive play calling and in-game adjustments. I thought he was below average in both areas while OC, but am curious to see if it was because of Chizik

I'm not defending Gene Chizik. The fact remains that he was definitely a better hire than Turner Gill could've hoped to be, even though that isn't saying much.
Are you trying to dispute that? Without Chizik, we don't get Trooper Taylor, Curtis Luper, or Gus Malzahn, and without them we don't get Cam Newton.

Him saying you defending Chizik is like him defending Lester a functioning retard.
I'll add this I would take Lester over Chiz any day of the week.

Like it or not, Chizik did a outstanding job keeping the most scrutinized team in modern day college football focused to go 14-0
He has many faults but he kept them together

but to say he is a horrible coach after what he did at Buffalo and then comparing the train wreck at KU may say more about KU then his coaching.
So it's apparent you know nothing of college football.

But I could have coached Auburn to a title that year.
Atleast give him some credit for keeping his players focused throughout that crazy season. Everyone ( outside of Auburn, Al) expected your program to get in trouble over Cam's recruiting. Also, it's not like Auburn just out talented other teams. Outside of Cam, run stopping def, and a solid veteran oline, Auburn wasn't really great. Auburn won so many games by slim margins, it was crazy.

My main wonder was what Tuner Gill would have done at Auburn with the SERIOUS support he would have been given. (Seriously the Kansas Football job is like.... the Auburn Basketball job, they've had freak runs of success but in general a vapid pit of despair) Turner Gill + Cam Newton = ???? (sadly yes, Newton and Chizik are a combined deal but this is what the offseason is for, what ifs.)
I'll actually yield and agree, with everything going against them and to keep their nose to the grindstone was no small feat.... but seeing it all unravel so quickly almost negates it.

His decision to leave Texas for Iowa St. was not a good idea. He was dead in the water career wise at 1-10 or whatever at Iowa St. Auburn knew he would do what they said and play ball with the illegal $$$ situation with cam or they leave him to rot at Iowa St. He got his out - a MNC and could have had a long career at Auburn if he didn't suck as a coach. Gus is there for similar reasons. They want guys they are already in bed with.
That is exactly what happened.

Like our AD has that kind of intelligence...

What SEC school hires a coach failing miserably in his first head coach Gig.? None. I consider Auburn one of the top end teams historically in the SEC. There is no way they hire a train wreck coach. But they knew nobody else was ever going to hire him ever. Maybe Utep after a few years to regroup. He was literally saved by Auburn - and Auburn said this is the deal or you stay at Iowa St. and your career is over. He said Im in. Same thing with Gus.
Auburn is a big boy in History of SEC. Why were they not looking to grab a young Boise coach, or Strong, or whoever. They hire a miserable failure hack ? Then next hire Gus? wtf. Guys got the goods on each other. I have no problem with that - but it is clear that is what happened. If you dont inderstand this you don't follow the business end of football.
Auburn is a premier destination. and those are the picks???
walks like a duck
smels like smoke.

quote:You're retarded. So Gus' career was over before we gave him the HC job? He was 10-3 in his first year. If he didn't like the terms we gave him, he could say frick off and get another bigtime gig in a couple years. Gus is potentially a rising star as a HC and one of the best offensive minds in the nation. There's a reason why most paid analysts and talking heads said Malzahn was the best hire this offseason
