Why are so many LSU fans here confident we will beat Bama?

I believe we have a puncher's chance because we fired Les (with him we had no chance--would not game plan or adjust), but I've watched Bama this season and have unfortunately had to bang my head against the wall because of how good they still are. They went through a serious road gauntlet that I don't think anybody else could have escaped undefeated. I want to win as much as anybody, but I don't trust our lines to compete for 4 quarters

Because mosquitoes and humidity will drive a person insane.

Because they're actually not confident at all. They're psyching themselves up. Compensating

Because the refs are about to have a little accident.

Because LSU has been a mirror image of Bama for a few years now, minus a serviceable passing game which they now have. It comes down to which QB makes the most mistakes in this one. Or kicker .

I keep telling my girlfriend LSU will steamroll her Tide because if it happens, I look like a cocky SOB who was right. If not, it's just another loss to Alabama who should have beat us.

They are trying to convince themselves.

Was just commenting to a friend that LSU players seem extremely confident. Maybe they really think they can stop the run like other teams have been unsuccessful at doing
We shall see

We have as good of a chance to beat Alabama this year more than any other year. However, until we do so, I'm still thinking Alabama will win the game.

because streaks are made to be broken

IMO, LSU has a better chance than anyone left on Alabama's schedule to pull off the upset. Main reason being is that their defense is the fastest and most physical defense Alabama will have played all year. Up front, Arden Key and Gaudchaux have combined for 12 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.
Hurts is going to have to show he can win this game with his arm. I think Damien Harris is a good enough back to keep drives alive and be relied upon, but Hurts eventually is going to have to hit some throws downfield to keep the defense honest. If not, LSU will just keep stacking the LOS and stopping the run.

LSU is the only team that has close to the same talent as Bama. There is a reason Bama puts their bye week before this game every year. Game is at home at night. LSU is very close to being 7-0 and ranked in the top 4. I honestly think LSU will try to pass too much in this game and have turnovers, but hopefully I'm wrong.

You're absolutely right. An improved passing game makes LSU a lot more unpredictable. The thing that concerns me the most though is that Fournette is fresh and he's going to be out to prove that last year's game was a fluke. His running the ball and effective play action passing will be a challenge.
That said, this is the most complete Alabama team that Saban has had. It will be a great game but I like Bama in a close one.

I bet the house on Bama. If they lose, my tigers win. Best hedge ever

Idk about beat them, I think we have a good chance to go blow for blow with them. Like many have said we have the talent and hopefully now we can come in with a decent game plan.
I've said before in another thread Alabama hasn't played as many physical run teams as they usually do by this time a year, so I'm interested to see if this Bama rush D is as dominant as 2015's

I think the biggest possible issue for LSU is the LSU interior DL vs the Alabama OL. LSU is even at LB and DB vs the Alabama pass attack, and actually probably ahead when you take Hurts passing into account. However, Alabama is a shotgun veer team now, so that advantage is kind of negated.
I think everyone agrees we will see basically the same from the LSU O vs the Bama D. A few deep pass plays (there was one of those last year in case people forget) and a pedestrian ground game (probably more like 2012 and 2014 than 2015 IMHO).
It will all come down to LSU's front against the Alabama OL, and I think Alabama has a pretty solid advantage there. However, that doesn't mean it will turn out that way.

If Gilmore plays all game at Nose you guys will dominate in the run game

This is a smack talking board, but realistically any LSU fan with half a brain, which seemingly at times there aren't many here, can't be confident.
LSU has a better chance now with the new staff and may have more talent than any other team Bama plays, but it's still a monumental challenge. This needs to be a weird game with crazy bounces and Bama making some unusual mistakes for The Tigers to be in it.
