Not all LSU fans are delusional, but there is a large anti-Miles contingent (I'm not in that group, to be clear).
Some are people who never got over Saban leaving and/or going to Alabama. There are actually those who blame Les for being here, and thus blocking little Nicky's return. Like a stalker, they never accepted that Saban was "done" with them, and with the right wooing and contrition, he would come back.
Others thought Miles wasn't a big name hire, and they get insecure anytime someone makes fun of Miles. These are the guys that want any name they hear on ESPN, be it Gary Patterson, the guy at Boise, etc.
Then we have the nutcases who think nothing less than a national title is acceptable; to them 10 wins is "mediocre". Those guys are never happy.

To the idiot who suggests LSU football= Kentucky basketball... just stop. We are not, and never will be, that level. That's what Alabama is. Not LSU, not Florida, not Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia etc. Why not? Because that's the way it is.
Oregon is not USC. Miami (or Fla St) is not Notre Dame.
There are only a scant few programs at that level, that will forever be considered giants... even when they are down. We aren't there.

Of course Rick loves Louisville…he is one of them.

He is lucky to still be coaching…because the "15 seconds down my leg" and getting the chick knocked up and having her get an abortion would not fly in Lexington…Him and Petrino fit nicely with their fan base.

TO be fair, winning the SEC in basketball isn't the same as winning it in football.

:kige:

I think Les is doing a great job at LSU…my point is, there is a few of the coaches that have runs like Saban…who in the sam hell do LSU fans think they can get a coach that would do a better job?

Please stop with the Mora Jr, Patterson, blah…blah…blah. Do they have a resume that sniffs Les?

(eta: I have LSU ties working with their athletics…getting a MS from LSU…and follow LSU football.)

Why are LSU fans delusional? Have you ever seen how much and how often they drink alcohol?..from the time they're 10 or 12 years old, they are around mama and daddy, with friends, plastered out of their minds. By 16, most are accomplished drunks with their entire social circle participating. I mean these folks work at being like this. Delusional is just the beginning of their many mental disorders.
But most of them are "fun" people to be around.

This is what it comes down to. Some LSU fans just hate the fact that Saban has dominated at Alabama, and no matter who their coach is he will always disappoint them in comparison.

It's not a good mindset, though. Miles has proven he can beat Saban, and he fields highly-competitive teams every year. Running him out of town will not help LSU.

BAMA

Loses 21-0 to Aubie in the national championship, then proceeds to lose 3 more in a row to Aubue while having 2 then 3 then 4 losses is going to have them potentially excited about a change

UF

Loses 21-0 to FSU in the national championship, then proceeds to lose 3 more in a row to FSU while having 2 then 3 then 4 losses is going to have them potentially excited about a change

I dont think that is delusional whatsoever.

Say what you want all SEC fan bases have their loud obnoxious delusionals, but MOST of,us realize Les is a grea coach wth few peers, 80% win % NC, two secs etc. most of us want him to stay and love him. We also know that even the "best" ads like Foley and Bama etc make bad hires at times, it's a risk and our AD,is below avg at best for hires...

Be careful LSU, you'll end up with a shitty hire like Nebraska just pulled from Beaverton

Les was a 5-7 bum from Oklahoma State. I wish he was leaving but they don't want him. He's horrible. They will hire Pinkle or Bielema.

Some caller on matt mascona said it perfectly tonight:

There's a vocal minority of LSU fans who won't be satisfied until the Tigers go 14-0 and then fire the coach at the end of the season.

Spot on.
