I understand the reasoning for Florida being the "best" job, but why LSU? LSU is a high end job, but I see no reason why it is better than Alabama or Oklahoma
You realize that Oklahoma is in . . ., Oklahoma?

Florida is the more high end talent than any state in the country. For most people, it is also an attractive place to live.
While I would personally prefer a program with great tradition, and some would consider Baton Rouge a great place to live, these are matters of taste. In measurable advantages, Florida is a very attractive job.

Bill Curry, Ray Perkins, Dennis Franchione, Mike Shula, and Mike Dubose each have a 10 win season, including 2 1st place finishes in the SEC, all while coaching Alabama. Let that sink in for a minute.
My favorite one about Auburn is that even Terry Bowden and Gene Chizik managed to run the table here

And according to a lot of people Les Miles in an idiot, yet he has a national title and 2 SEC titles at LSU(while the SEC has been better than ever).

assuming you have never been to gainesville.
Not trying to rag on Florida as I do think its a top 5 job, I just don't understand why everyone always give them the benefit of the doubt but the same arguments can be made for LSU and Georgia for that matter.

Current state of programs, facilities, and money considered, there really isn't much that separates the top 4, IMO (Bama, UF, UGA, and LSU).
eta: recruiting tends to favor LSU (only school in fertile recruiting state); UF and Bama do about the same instate considering they have battle other instate schools, and UGA seems to battle the hell out of other SEC schools in UGA every year.

Yeah..if you suck at coaching football, the state of Alabama is the place to come for work if you want that one great season.

If you think Oklahoma is no good because it's in Oklahoma, but LSU is great because it's in Louisiana, then there's not a lot of debate on the subject.
The point that many people forget is that just because the majority of people might prefer certain things, a particular coach may be looking for something else entirely. If I were a premier head coach, I'd be looking at Alabama or Notre Dame. But another coach may not give a rat's arse about historical significance and would never want to live in Tuscaloosa or South Bend.

Insulated from failure. For example, LSU's next coach could be shite, but the high school coaches in LA will still steer kids there... I really don't ever see that changing.
Oklahoma is in Oklahoma... I think they produced 10 D1 athletes last year. They are now losing recruits to TCU. LSU will never lose recruits to Tulane.

UGA and LSU...they're clearly #1 in their state (s), whereas we have to compete against FSU and Miami.
Edit: Along with Ohio St, they're the best jobs in the country imo.

Bama is the king, but long term, it seems like LSU and Florida are in better position. People are always talking about the best job in the country and I don't see how it isn't UF or LSU?
Let's all take a moment of silence for the good ol' rocky top we all knew over a decade ago.

Same here.
When I think "insulated", I think Jonesville or Amish people or those fundamentalist Mormons living in West Texas.
Within the SEC, the Aggies are the closest thing I know of that resembles an insular cult.
Plus, Igloo coolers are made in Houston. Probably engineered and made by Aggies.
Ergo, I conclude that the Aggies are the most insulated program in the SEC.

Florida has everything they need to win big, I am surprised that they have not won more.
