Don't know about fired but we should've hired Erk after Dooley retired.

Even though many Aggies disagree I think ours is clearly RC Slocum.

What about your program?

Just because Fran sucked, that doesn't mean that we should have kept RC.

LSU should have been more patient and kept Curly Hallman. That guy was awesome.

Dinardo was a pretty good coach really his assistants were his downfall.

I've always felt like DiNardo was under appreciated. It obviously wasn't a bad move to can him because LSU landed Saban, but Gerry did a pretty admirable job of cleaning up the crater Hallman left behind, all things considered.

Gene Stallings - Wasn't fired obviously but was somewhat pushed out and demands were placed upon him (his coaching hires and assistants) that made coaching there no longer tenable for him. Huge mistake.

I know I'll catch hell for this, but at the time, the forcing out of Bill Curry I thought was unwarranted.

Worked out getting Coach Stallings, though.

Obviously it worked out but I did think he got a raw deal. Got you through brutal penalties and even delivered you a awfully good 2005 season in the process. I thought he should have gotten a chance to see what he could do without the draconian sanctions handcuffs on him.

Croom beat him in T-Town.... Repeat, Croom.

no question about it.

The 1998 team got a little unlucky, but to go 4-7 with all that talent was ridiculous. '99 was always going to be a rebuilding year but they to got a little unlucky. In those 2 years combined we lost like 5 or 6 games on the very last play.

Saban lost to Croom too.

they had some of the roughest penalties ever handed down by the NCAA. Plus he was an Alabama guy. Just my opinion obviously but I thought he deserved a chance to see what he could do without the deck stacked against him.

All deserved to be released. Tubs resigned, still my favorite.

I liked Tubbs also. My friend build his lake house at lake martin and also haas a home two down from him and he use to come over and hang out with us and talk about football. Tubs is a great guy. He knew we were all BAMA fans and would hang out all the time. Good dude but Dye was my favorite Auburn coach. I really liked coach Dye,

I think he could've been decent. Certainly nowhere near the level Saban got Bama to, but Shula's teams were usually competitive while being significantly hamstrung. I don't think he was a bad head coach, just not quite good enough.

Amen.

Jackie Sherrill gets my vote. Yes, he resigned but it was forced. Therefore I say he was effectively fired.

He only had one good year: 9-2-1. Rest of seasons:

0-10-1
8-4
7-5
8-4
1-1-1 (fired)

For Mizzou, I'm going to say Al Onofrio:

Yes, it's weird saying a coach with a losing record shouldn't have been fired, but:

1. followed the legendary Dan Devine so had tough shoes to follow in.
2. played brutal schedules and got big wins over Alabama, Ohio State, Joe Montana & ND, Southern Cal, and the Bugeaters (Nebraska)to name a few.
3. Could flat out recruit - Warren Powers followed him up and had great success with his players at first, but saw his program go downhill once he ran out of Al's players.
4. Tied to recruiting, but had great ties across the state of MO. It took until Gary Pinkel to finally rebuild the goodwill & recruiting in MO.

Who Mizzou probably should have held on to: Frank Broyles. Only here one year and left for Arky. Luckily, the guy Mizzou got after Broyles was Dan Devine, so it actually worked out well.

I feel ya. Just my opinion. Think he could have done well with Reggie.
