wait, what?

Charley Moran. A&M's head coach from 1909-1914.

He beat Texas too many times, so in 1912 the horns refused to play A&M any more as long as Moran was the coach.

Losing the revenue from the rivalry game threatened to send A&M's athletic department into bankruptcy, so Moran was asked to leave at the end of the 1914 season, and the A&M/UT series resumed in 1915.

The horns have a long history of throwing temper tantrums and refusing to play games they don't think they can win. Pussies.

Fran Curci. Should have kept him until all of the damage from the probation was gone. Say what you will, he was ready to actually compete in the SEC bagmen race.

Doug Dickey... not even sure if he was really fired, but Charley Pell was a lasting disaster

He said he wanted to go home. But in reality it is hard to keep coaches as a military college. We lost Dana X. Bible to Nebraska too.

I'd argue Dickey to Pell was worse. Pell brought so many violations and didn't even win.

One could make an argument for not firing Bob Tyler but he did bring a whole of trouble on MSU. One player is not worth all of that.

Dinardo would have probably been at LSU for a long time had he not had such unrelenting loyalty to Lou Tepper. He walked into a mess and put together a few 10 win seasons, and of course there's the "bring back the magic" win over #1 Florida. I think he's still butthurt to his day, but he should have canned Tepper.

However, LSU got Nick Saban, and the rest is history. I'm not old enough to really give a correct answer, because everyone since 2000 at LSU that left either went pro or justifiably "resigned".

the bring back the magic game was against Auburn in 1995.

I mean I guess technically the Florida game actually brought the magic back, but "Bring Back the Magic" was an actual campaign that Gerry ran with for the 95 Auburn game

yeah right after Dinardo was hired he did a lot of barnstorming around the state and talked about "bringing the magic back" to Tiger Stadium. He got the NCAA to change their rules regarding jersey colors so we could wear white at home again. Those things plus him signing Kevin Faulk injected the fan base with a good bit of enthusiasm, and we played Auburn in the 3rd or 4th game of the season in 1995 at home at night when they were ranked in the top 5 and had only lost like 1 game in the previous few seasons. We won the game and DV was as wild as it has ever been. It really did bring the magic back.
