You're right, our place is actually in North Teton rather than Jackson proper.

I'm a lot of things, but redneck isn't one of them. I might sound like I crawled from the Okeechobee, but my family has been educated since the 1870's.

I don't care if your dipshit self has thousands of acres in Wyoming horse country, you aren't anything but a fricking coonass who dresses up for play.

Gary Patterson (TCU),

I don't see him as a good recruiter or as a head coach at a major football program. He would be a great defensive cordinator at a big program but what has he really done?
The season they beat Oklahoma is what he hangs his hat on and that had more to do with OU's quarterback situation than anything he did.
He better get a great offensive cordinator because his teams can never pass the football. They do well in the WAC or whatever they are in by running the ball and playing good defense.

I like what Skip Holtz has done but I don't know if I'd hire him. He's taken Schiano's place as the "now" young guy.

I think Mike Leach could do amazing things if he didn't have to lose most of the Texas talent to OU,UT,ATM, etc. He'd be interesting in Tenn.

Muschamp is a great coach. He's used to the SEC and recruiting down there.

Mike Leach

Would be a worse fit in the SEC than CUM is. I know he is at Texas Tech now but he doesn't fit in the Big XII really either. He would fit in at Cal or Stanford, at a place like North Carolina if Davis leaves or maybe the Big 10 or Big East but he is a strange duck. All of the haters who think Miles is crazy for going for it on fourth down would really freak out on Leach. He'll go for it on 4th and 40, not make it and put his defense in a bad way.

Leavitt, Mendenhall, and Holtz seem like the most sane and realistic choices.

Though, I could see Leavitt staying at USF b/c 1) He's unfireable for building that program, 2) the recruting base + weak conference = easier route to BCS, and 3) Tampa isn't a bad place to live.

I don't really know if Butch would or should leave UNC for UT. UNC is getting better in a weak conference....

Obviously, Mendenhall and Holtz will both be hot names this offseason. There'll be a few teams after them.

Sure, there are good reasons for coaches staying at small-time programs. Some good ones were just given for Leavitt. I've heard others say Butch Davis wants to say at UNC because the expectations are so low there. Etc, etc for other coaches.

However, Leavitt is getting $1.5 million per year. Butch Davis is getting $2.1 million a year. Small-time programs don't pay as much as big-time programs.

Tennessee could quadruple those salaries if they so chose. Also, the prestige of coaching at a program like Tennessee is something that coaches dream of. Just depends on whether that particular coach wants to take a shot at a dream job and a dream salary, or it he wants to play it safe and conservative and stay where he is at. Same can be said of any coach. You never know if they will leave their programs or not, until you offer them and let them think about it.
