PT and Sproles have no problems running for more than 2 yards a pop.

Ridley went in the 3rd round. Only one I can think of in recent years.

How is he in the wrong type of offense? He lines up behind fullback and either trips and busts his arse, gets two yards, or loses yards. He's fricking garbage. He had a hole yesterday and got blown the frick up by the safety.

I saw it. I thought to myself "oh boy here he goes!!".....dammit.

For a total of 78 yards
because one certain player had only 11 yards on 9 carries.

Pierre show: 9 carries, 43 yards (4.8 ypc)
Sproles: 8 carries, 22 yards (2.75 ypc)
Ingram: 9 carries, 11 yards (1.2 ypc)

Thomas has been our most effective RB since 2008. I love the guy. I'm so hopeful for Ingram to play well, but he lacks some vision and balance. The O-line didn't play as well as they could, but one play they finally got a surge when he got the rock, and he ran right into the back of the guard and fell over. He's just been so unimpressive and it's frustrating... I don't care where he went to school. I'm still hoping he can be a major contributor, but he just doesn't seem to be a fit for our offense at all.

Good point. The goal of the college football program is to win championships. If the player continues that success in the NFL all the better, but not what put's trophies in the case.

Exactly. I mean, if I were an NFL prospect, especially at a position that has a relatively short shelf life, I'd much rather maximize my potential at a school that can get me drafted in the top rounds. Frankly, LSU is the perfect example of talented kids that, at least on offense, have had their talents minimized and then they get to other systems and end up being successful.

Ingram sucks. He's more worried about slapping Yeldon on the arse then being an NFL running back. Our coaches did a poor job scouting him. He can't get to the next level. He'll be a backup RB all his life.

LSU fans who happen to be Saints fans hate Ingram because he is unabashed in his support of Bama - even when they are playing LSU in Baton Rogue. I know Ingram has not lived up to the hype in the NFL, but part of that is due to how he is used. He's not be given opportunity to be the feature back and get into a rhythm at any point in his NFL career (and he's not been healthy really until this year). I hope the Saints cut him after the season and he has a chance to go some place that will properly use him.

Saints ran the ball 29 times yesterday

That's not a lot when the carries are split 4 ways and no back broke double digits in carries.

The Saints WANT to give him double digit carries... but when he's averaging 1.2 ypc, you just can't. I'm still holding out hope he'll turn it around. we'll see.

Me too. And I agree they likely want to give him more carries. However, when I watch Saints games even I know when he's getting the ball and I'm not a scout. It's obvious when he is in that there is a 70% chance that he's getting the ball on a run. They don't do him any favors with play-calling while he's in and with not allowing a rhythm to develop.

See, that right there was more effective than all of the weaksauce Ingram cracks in this thread combined.

So many excuses as to why y'all think Ingram doesn't suck.

I've never said Mark Ingram doesn't suck. He hasn't lived up to expectations and isn't a good fit for the Saints but I wouldn't say he sucks. There are a handful of other teams he would be good with.

To answer OP: Evan Mathis, Demeco Ryans, Mark Barron, Leron McClain, and Trent dont suck.

With the talent LSU gets, they should have higher draft stock.

Mehhhhh...

...LSU has developed as much or more talent on the defensive side.

...Bama's done a better job developing offensive talent. That's going to change...with an actual offensive coordinator.

70% chance? You calculated that up?

How can you develop a rhythm with him when he can't even run for more than two yards? Yea lets just keep feeding him the ball. Those two yard gains are killing them?

He's a waste of a play when you can have Thomas or Sproles come in and double that?

Generally LSU fans are Saints fans...and they don't like Ingram because he is not very good.

Probably, buy Alabama's done a great job at developing defensive talent too. And for the NFL, I think it's fair to consider, when analyzing draft busts or draft successes, that anytime someone is in the NFL as a higher pick, the expectations are greater. So, if you are touting LSU's performance in the NFL, for offensive players, one might also consider that they underperformed at LSU, thus causing a lower draft stock and then allowing for surpassing expectations. I mean, if Lacy went in the 3rd round or 7th round or if he was undrafted like the LSU RB's, his first day would have been incredible. As it was, he was left to a higher standard. At least he's getting paid well for it.
