Butch has made progress each year he has been at Tennessee. His teams need to learn how to finish down the stretch. That's it.
Sumlin basically has to win the West or go 10-2 this year to not get fired.
Butch had basically the same team for three years and the schedule kept getting easier. Of course there was progress.
That record is going to turn around pretty soon.

Aggy fires black head coach who never had losing season and who brought them to one of the few high points in school football history.
Old Sarge will then log on after the Sumlin firing and call me a racist.
You see, aggy is tone deaf.

This is very close, but i'm going to go with Jones. At least Sumlin has beat Bama and competed in the best division in college football. Jones has underachieved in a unusually weak East.

They ought to schedule it so they announce the firings of both at the same time, at the same presser. I don't think anything like that has been done between two teams. It would be neat...something to do for the SEC Network....

There's a big difference between firing a coach who never had a winning season and one who never had a losing season.
Will your inferior deduction skills require me to explain this further? Probably.

I feel like Jones will be fired, if he has another bull crap comment to say after losing, or poor recruiting again. As previously stated Sumlin will be gone unless he does something like finish with a 10 win season.

Vols are having trouble selling tickets to their season opener vs Tech.

Jones. Sumlin never screws the pooch until late season. They are just looking for a reason with Butch and there will be plenty of chances before November rolls around.

Sumlin knows that he is on the hot seat. He knows he as to win more games to keep his job.
8-5 is not going to cut it.
And I am glad to see that he is being held to a higher standard.
