In terms of attendance it's likely women's gymnastics

Probably for the top schools in the SEC and Utah maybe.
Georgia had over 10K for their opening meet at that is about capacity for that place. I think Bama drew 15K at peak but Patterson stepped down and Duckworth is in their 1st year. tDecline of Bama gymnastics may be real.

Nobody cares about TV ratings, they aren't really a good representation because they dont support my baseless opinion that America gives a shite about college baseball.

This is 2015. We have a SEC Network distribution platform. Ratings are the best metric for the era. Period.

from a non biased perspective, since i don't live in the north or south, women's college basketball is easily #3. baseball and hockey are definitely regional things. even in los angeles, nobody talks about or gives a shite about usc baseball, even though they are one of the top programs of all time.

I think it's baseball by default.
Consensus for pro right now is probably NFL > NBA > MLB, and CFB and CBB are definitely the top two for college, with CFB #1 for sure. So College Baseball seems like the most logical #3, but I don't have any facts to back that up.

I did a 6-month internship in Madison Wisconsin, and up there, they take College Hockey as serious as we take College Baseball down here.
55,000 strong show up for Wisconsin-Michigan

It gets regional from there. In the midwest, hockey is easily #3. In the southeast and Texas, its baseball.

How would you or any mizzou fans know what is popular in the south
Posted on 1/18/15 at 12:29 pm to Cheese Grits
Well, in the SEC
Baseball, Gymnastics and (newcomer)Softball as far as all around dominance.

Baseball
It's top 3 in sports period
Football
Baseball
Basketball
Young men grow up playing those 3 sports. That's the American way. Hockey follows baseball.

B) Baseball
Baseball is even number 2 when you look at attendance at certain SEC schools.

B. Baseball and not even close. College World Series is very popular.
If more teams in the midwest, northeast had better college baseball teams they'd draw more than hockey, plus it usually don't get warm up north until Late April.
And womens basketball is not more popular than College Baseball.

Women's basketball is more enjoyable to watch than baseball IMHO. It's a better spectator sport, especially if one is spectating via TV. TV has never been conducive to baseball. The difference between being at a baseball game and watching it on TV is the biggest in sport.
I would rather watch my women's basketball team go through a season and win a championship than to watch my baseball team do so, but I think it's more prestigious to be nat champions in baseball than in women's basketball.

I wish A&M would get into women's gymnastics. Now that we're in the SEC it would make sense. I have watched a few SEC meets over the past few days and it seems that the state of Texas produces as much talent as anyone.
Not to mention that there are some major hotties in women's gymnastics. Every time my wife enters the room while I'm watching it I feel a little guilty. And, again, Texas produces as much "talent" as anyone.
