I'll bet Tennessee wanted Virginia Tech and North Carolina, since Tennessee confuses eastern with southern

Bama wanted Florida State

UGA wanted Clemson

Florida wanted Syracuse and Rutgers

LSU wanted Arkansas, and congrats to them

Ole Miss wanted Georgia Tech

There we have it I think.

Honestly, I always thought Arkansas should have been in the SEC.

I thought FSU should have been as well, ah well, they ran away

We probably don't belong, I mean I think we have a losing record vs. Duke in football.

This is a quality troll. I like the people answering this and missing the hook entirely

If Texas politics would have allowed A&M to take the 12th slot then USCjr wouldn't even be a SEC program today.

Them and Mizzou only got their spots because conferences with odd numbers are hard to manage.

Well

UK wasn't having no part of L'ville getting into the SEC
UF not going along with FSU
UGA not open to GT and neither was anybody else

Not a lot to select from

So I looked up the all-time record (24-17-3) and you're right, but a bulk of those losses came in the 40s and 50s when Wallace Wade and William Murray were coaching, both of whom are in the CFB Hall of Fame.

Wallace Wade in particular (arguably) won three national championships at Alabama before leaving for Duke, and is who their football stadium is named after.

So while technically true, it's not as shameful as it may appear.

Leto understands. He's trying to troll me back by not openly biting.

I'd guarantee Leto probably has Bama Bangs the quality of Mike Cooley

When I was called and asked who the conference should pursue I stated Florida A&M and Prairie View. But, you racist MFers could not handle HBCU in the conference

There's a difference between missing the hook and not acknowledging it.

Don't I wish. My bangs waved bye bye to me almost 20 years ago.

This is much more accurate in case you were wondering.

Georgia Tech burned their SEC bridge in 1963 when they got greedy and left the conference. Worst mistake they ever made.

Clemson could have been a possibility but I guess USCe was/is the flagship U in SC thus they were invited instead.

Florida would never let Free Shoes U in so that was a moot point.

Arkansas was a logical pick even though the location is the farthest distance away from anyone else in the conference (prior to A&M and Mizzou being invited).

Otherwise the SEC is not going to add another school in a state where it already has a footprint.

So the only logical future possibilities are NC, VA or OK. If they decide to go to 16 teams. Probably doubtful at this point but you never know.

Considering expectations Arkansas has been the biggest failure of all 4 programs

Florida State and Clemson have always been my choices.

Far better than U of SC and Arky, but the SEC settled.

Same with Mizzou, who doesn't belong at all and T A&M who is the best of the 4 but not as good as having a lot of other
schools that would have jumped at the chance.

Are they? Because the other three have won their division at least once in football.
