"overall 10 best people that have played a sport at the school?" Yes

That's super tough..I mean how can I compare the best 10-20 football players to the few best baseball and basketball, etc?

I would say all the following could make a case to be at the top of their respective sports:

Herschel
Sinkwich
Charley Trippi
David Pollack
Champ Bailey

Dominique
Jarvis Hayes
Litterial Green

Courtney Kupets

Gordon Beckham

John Isner

Teresa Edwards

Russell Henley

For UGA I'd also throw in gymnast Karin Lichey. Scored 4 perfect 10s in one meet

Forget college gymnastics, that's never been done at ANY LEVEL of gymnastics, from high school to Olympic.

Assuming this is about pure athletic ability and not just prowess in one's discipline:

1. Billy Cannon
2. Kelly Willie
3. The Pistol
4. Bennie Brazell
5. Lolo Jones
6. Stromile Swift
7. Tyrus Thomas
8. Shaq
9. Dwayne Bowe
10. Tommy Casanova

Arguable:

Jared Mitchell
Steve van Buren
Jim Taylor
Y.A. Tittle
Charles Alexander
Kevin Faulk
Chris Jackson (bball)
Chris Jackson (fball baseball)
Dalton Hilliard
Bert Jones
Mikie Mahtook

Athletes right?!

Ben McDonald and Lyle Mouton were both 2 sport guys and both had some success in the pros. Hell, I think Ben played football for a year, too.

I'd have Eddie Kennison over Bowe all day. The dude killed it on the track and on the field. Bowe was a big WR w/ sketchy hands until he had eye surgery. Now he's a beg WR w/ better hands. Hell, Michael Clayton > than Bowe and should've played basketball while he was @ LSU

3. Maravich
4. Ryan Theriot
5. Ben McDonald
6. Brady James
7. Glenn Dorsey

9. Kevin Faulk
10. Todd Walker or Belle
11. Skip Bertman (not an athlete, but should always be on a list of LSU greats)

Stafford?

Definitely not. Stafford might not be one of the 10 best UGA football players of all time, much less a top 10 for this list.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE staff. But he doesn't belong here. What criteria would you put him here for?

Wins? No, David Greene has more.
Titles? No, he didn't win any.
Stats? Murray will break any stafford still has

The only thing Stafford can boast that he is the best ever at UGA is talent (QB wise I mean). We've never had anyone with his talent at UGA. But there are others that are far more accomplished.

Danielle Adams deserves to be on that list

Probably some of our softball players too. Amanda Scarborough, Megan May, or whomever was leading us to titles in the 80's

Bowe was bigger and faster. He was a mutant. Clayton was a great athlete as well, but Bowe broke all of his records. So given a choice, I elevated Bowe for his athleticism. Kennison is a good choice as well. At the end of the day, there are only 10 spots and no one was a mutant like Tyrus, the most decorated track athletes have to be above the others, and while I like Lyle and Ben, they weren't the best athletes in my opinion. They were GREAT baseball players, however.
