John David Crow
John Kimbrough
Greg Hill
Darren Lewis
Curtis Dickey

Have to throw George Woodard in there. "Throw" is probably the wrong verb.

Dalton Hilliard belongs on that list somewhere.

HM - giraffe neck Harvey Williams

Collins could have been the best of all time at LSU if he wasn't a damn freak POS.

Dude? I hate the frickin Gumps as much as anyone, but Richardson is one of the best backs to ever run roughshod over this conference. He was clutch as hell.

Can't ignore a Heisman Trophy winner who came up huge in the biggest game Alabama has played in almost 20 years.

It's amazing how quickly opposing fanbases have forgotten how badly Mark Ingram pummeled their defenses while he was playing for Alabama.

True. Richardson was a badass in college and is solid as a NFL rookie as well. It is probably between Richardson and Alexander as bama's best back ever.

shite. Ingram sucked. He quit in the Auburn game. Totally laid down after getting his arse handed to him by a very average defense.

Ingram doesn't belong in a list of the top 50 backs in SEC history. Bet the Saints wish they would have never drafted him.

Can someone please explain to me how he morphed into such a monster in the NFL? He was slow and had a fumbling problem at Tenn and now he's running over the best athletes in the world consistently. I hate to be that guy but "steroids?" How does anybody explain it?

That was his one bad game of the season. He rocked face in every other game we played. He ran for over 100 yards against a very good Florida defense in the SEC Championship Game and ran for over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns against Texas's #1 ranked rushing defense in the BCS National Championship Game. Big time players step up in big time games. He stepped up against Virginia Tech when we needed him, he stepped up against South Carolina when we needed him, and he stepped up against LSU when we needed him.

I'd have to agree although I would probably switch places between Bennett and Harold "Crazy Legs" Green. And Steve "The Cadillac" Wadiak may deserve to be higher too actually. No telling what he might have accomplished in the pros but not for that car wreak and his untimely death.

Here is a pretty cool old video of Wadiak running the ball in 1950. LINK

Does anyone really want to attempt to go 16 deep to even try to get in the discussion with Auburn as far as runningbacks go?

Hell, I'll even throw in Jimmie Sidle at #17 who happened to lead the SEC in rushing yards for a qb (with a 1,000 yard season) for nearly 4 decades just for amusement.

You have to think the Texans' system has helped him tremendously. Think back at all of the "mediocre" running backs that have thrived in Kubiak's system (all the way back to Denver)

He's like TN's second all time leading rusher. He was projected to go second or third round after his junior year, came back for his senior season, played sparingly under Clawson and Fulmer and went undrafted.

He was a freak his first couple of years, and then packed it in under dave clawson.

He was a Freshman All-American, Freshman All SEC, and Second Team all-SEC.
