In a lot of ways Matt Jones was the anti-Johnny Manziel though. Manziel had all the swagger and force of will, just not any elite athletic abilities. Matt had plenty of swagger but the ambition and drive of a wet slug. He was lucky to be born with absolute elite athleticism, I'm not even sure he ran all that hard at the combine. However, he was drafted in the first round at a position he had never played I'm not sure the NFL underrated him...probably quite the opposite in hindsight.

Connor Shaw was a warrior for USCe. He just made play after play for them.
Tony Taylor was a good one. Ghost's Alec Ogletree answer is interesting. I guess his off-field stuff really kept his recognition from matching his massive talent level. He was still drafted in the first round though.

I'd also go with Josh Thompson & Darvin Adams for Auburn.

I wouldn't really call him underrated...he was 2nd team all SEC and went in the 1st round.

Zach Clayton in 2010 was underrated for the season. He was never talked about.

I always thought Jeremiah Masoli for Ole Miss was underrated. His stats don't impress but he was running for his life half the time.

May sound a bit ridiculous, but I don't think people appreciate how good Aaron Murray really was. Swap Murray with McCarron and Alabama has a three year undefeated streak from 2011-2013 while UGA doesn't get within 5 miles of the 2011 or 2012 SECCG.
I've never seen a UGA QB play better than Murray in the 4th quarter of the 2013 Auburn game.
What other QB could be without his top 3 WRs, top 2 RBs, down a TD in Knoxville with less than 2 min left and lead the game tying TD drive anyways?
