I agree with your sentiments. Both are beautiful states with a ton of southern heritage.
SN: I don't consider MO or TX southern states. TX is southwest and MO is more midwest. Fighting for the south in the Civil War =/= southern state. Hell, a lot of East Tn was neutral/Union sympathizers during that time.

I would throw Asheville, North Carolina out there as not being very southern either. It being known as the "San Francisco of the South" and all
Beautiful city. So are San Fran & Key West. Don't come to Pensacola Beach Memorial Day weekend unless you want to see 150,000 Gays in all kinds of strange attire. Made the mistake of going there when it 1st started & I didn't know it. Scarred me for life.

So basically if not everyone lives in a trailer with tires on the roof, two commodes, a washer, and four unidentifiable rusted cars out in the yard, then we aren't Southern. I get it now. (Have you never been to East Texas?). You act like we're a bunch of pop drinking, non-gravey eating Yankees that talk through our noses.
Yes, parts of Texas are more "Western" than "Southern." It's a big fricking state. But I assure you the area east of I-35 is very similar, if not identical, in culture to that of any state in the "Deep" South.
I guess this just shows how stupid you are.

Texas is definitely Southern (except for Austin). I lived in Oklahoma for a year. They are definitely Southern too. There is more "Cowboy Attitude" in those 2 States, but both are Southern.

Oklahoma and The South should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Neither should A&M and Missouri unfortuantely it's too late for that
I'm was born and raised in OKC, and Oklahoma never has been and never will be considered southern. Oklahoma was neutral during the Civil War, with southern OK being pro confederate because of Texas and northern OK going pro Union because of Kansas. But overall Oklahoma was more or less neutral. Also OU and OSU would not be good fits with the SEC culturally. They are much too western for the SEC. Hell Texas might be too western for the SEC too.

Living in Oklahoma right now, and I couldn't agree more. Ain't nothing southern about this state.

Texas is not Western, Midwestern, or Southern. Texas is Texas

Same goes for Missouri really. People forget that it takes 9 hours and 600 miles to get from the Northwest corner of MO to the Southeast corner. Naturally with that much of a geographic distance, Missouri has multiple distant cultures, one of which is very southern. Missouri's Southeastern border is only 91 miles and just over an hour drive from the deep south state of Mississippi.

I literally never said any of these things. I said I consider Texas part of the Southwest, which is my opinion. I've driven through TX several times and I realize there are Southern accents, Southern food, etc. I never disputed that. It is nice that you consider Southerners unsophisticated redneck trailer dwellers.

Congrats on the "big fricking state" and for your awesome culture.

Yep, you proved how stupid I, and anyone with a differing opinion is. Thanks for the lesson sensei, hopefully you share your infinite wisdom with others. Now go frick yourself.

Why get your panties wedged over whether or not someone on the got-danged internet thinks you're "southern"?
Texas is Texas, not Southern/Midwestern/Western. It's just Texas. If I were from Texas I would be proud of that.

I think most are, and first and foremost we are Texas, but I think we culturally have certain elements in common with a lot of the south. I don't consider Florida a part of Dixie, but I consider northern Florida to be similar to East Texas.

Sorry Virginia isn't deep southern enough for you. Our perceived Northern status by some rednecks is really just a byproduct of having an educated and successful state.
