Oklahoma and The South should never be mentioned in the same sentence. Neither should A&M and Missouri unfortuantely it's too late for that

onference realignment is still a reality. No matter what conferences like the "Big East" do to stay alive, theyll eventually dissolve, and their members will move to other conferences.

As of now, the only State I wouldnt mind having join the SEC is Oklahoma(Doubt it would happen though). As far as other southern states, I think Mizzou is as far north as we should go. North Carolina and Virginia should be barred from entering.

... and I thought taterheads were bad.

Never fricking mind that we have a statue of a Confederate General in the center of our campus. But i guess that's not Southern enough for you.

VA and NC are as southern as it gets save for Northern VA near DC. You aren't very bright.

I would throw Asheville, North Carolina out there as not being very southern either. It being known as the "San Francisco of the South" and all

North Carolina and Virginia are much more fitting for the SEC than Missouri. One could argue over which is "more southern" but the fact of the matter is NC and VA are probably two of the best states in the country. They also played a large role in the confederacy. Adding a school from either of these states would be a huge gain for the SEC, imo.

Not directly pointed at you because I've seen it so often, but what is the rant's obsession with the Confederate States? Perhaps it's time to move on a little bit?

Sorry Virginia isn't deep southern enough for you. Our perceived Northern status by some rednecks is really just a byproduct of having an educated and successful state.

NoVa is a different animal altogether than the rest of the state, fwiw. It has more in common with New Jersey than Richmond, for example.

Seriously, anybody who thinks having a school like UVA in their conference is bad thing is stupid. UVA would be a huge asset in more ways than one.

No offense taken--I was responding to the OP's question "which southern states should be barred" and his subsequent comments about NC and VA not being "southern." I was just pointing out that history paints a different picture about NC and VA and their relation to being identified with the south.

I believe that the culture/environment/atmosphere at UVA and UNC are very similar to those that are currently in the SEC and adding such schools would benefit our conference greatly.

I guess it's true that all of the smart people from Tennessee headed to Texas.

Can't speak for Oklahoma and Missouri but try explaining Texas not being in the South to my great great grandfather who was fighting for Texas at the battle of little Round Top at Gettysburg. And my great great uncle (fighting for Texas) who was taken prisoner by that heathen Sherman, in South Carolina.
