Our athletic department was clicking on all cylinders in the ACC just 1-2 years before leaving the conference and being independent for over 20 years. In fact, we've spent nearly half our existence as an independent.

so you haven't won a conference title in the 22 years you've been in the SEC and won 1 in the 18 years you were in the ACC. Conversely, Clemson has won 14 in the 62 years they've been in the ACC. They also lead South Carolina by 24 games H2H. Sounds like they own that state pretty good historically. Y'all should feel very blessed Spurrier tried his hand in the NFL.

And what? You think Clemson has been dominating the ACC in that same time frame?

Again, it's winning less than 6 of 10 games for over 100 years.

Okay and we have the state's only heisman winner and didn't nearly get the death penalty for getting it (like Clemson's national title)

No one is arguing that SC has had more success than Clemson, but to try and act like the disparity is the same as comparing us to a 'Bama or something is absurd.

Kinda. LSU is like the X rated version of A&M.

much more than scar ever was. You said they left right when they "started rolling." The year after they left was 1971. You must have a different definition of rolling than i do
South Carolina records:
1971 7-5
1972 4-7
1973 7-4
1974 4-7
1975 7-5
1976 6-5
1977 5-7
1978 5-5-1

Y'all had a few good seasons in the 80s and then were a complete disaster in the 90s.

again, a 24 game series lead in football is a lot.

I just found it hilarious that a South Carolina fan called Clemson "little brother." I guess that's true if little brother makes a habit of beating big brother most of the time they play and has been more successful over the course of their history.

Somebody post which SEC school is most like Alabama and why.......

I personally can't think of even one other school in the conference.

Which SEC school is most like your school and why? by WildTchoupitoulas

With the exception of having good academics, solvency, and (blah, blah, blah), LSU is more like A&M.

I'm going to have to agree with this. Almost Jekyll and Hydes of one another.
As far as football accomplishments, LSU, UGA and AU are extremely close.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. The State budge issues only affect 11% of LSU's total funding.
There are no 'solvency' issues. That is fricking preposterous.
As far as "good academics", the last time I checked, LSU is a Tier 1 university with a Top 30 Quality Thrust ('ForeverLSU' Campaign) and several Top 5, Top 20, and Top 50 departments and curricula. It's also one of the top research institutions on this planet.
How TF does a univeristy not have good 'academics'?? It's a UNIVERSITY. LSU has PhD professors teaching the same courses that all campuses across the country offer.

LSU's admissions standards have risen dramatically in the last 2 decades, admissions scores and gpa's are climbing every year.

if we're talking about the school itself, the types of people that attend, and not including sports, Ole Miss and Georgia

Bigger school, bigger money, more exposure. Sorry, schools are more than just football.

I said the whole AD was rolling. Left after the 1971 season yes.

Football:

Won ACC in 1969 (it only took a 7-4 record by the way, didn't require an 11-0 season)

Basketball:

Won ACC in 1970
Won ACC regular season in 1971
Made the tournament a few times in the '70s

Baseball:

Four tournament appearances in the '70s, including two CWS runner-ups.

I'd say our AD was in pretty good shape during that time.

I've never, in the history of ever, heard the term "little brother" used when comparing two schools and it not be sports related and not be on a sports message board.

I would say the closest to Alabama is Tennessee. Old school, tradition laden programs that dominate when they are good and are pathetic when things are not going so well.

In that case, Alabama and Auburn are very similar.

UT. If not for Bama they would be the traditional power of the SEC.

I wasn't using a "poll," nor was I citing Athlon's parameters; I was simply demonstratimg that it's not tough to find others online who hold alternate opinions.

I didn't say College Station is the best vacation destination on the planet; I said it's not a "shite hole."
And it's not.
Again, anyone who's actually been there (and doesn't simply regurgitate nonsense from shaggybevo and/or tSECr) knows that.

Some of you need to think for yourselves and get out more.

UT didn't dominate shite the last time they were good.

I have always felt like LSU and UGA are similar programs. They are the only other SEC team I can half arse route for.

None. We're Yankees and we don't care for your southern jackassery.

Keep sending the SEC checks but keep the rampant illiteracy and kudzu to yourselves.
