The LSU font on the helmet is not the same 'Geaux' font used in the end zones or on merchandise. The helmet font has been unchanged for many years. The little 'hook' on the L is just for the helmet font only.
The other font would not look better and would take away from the Tiger Head.
Never understood Alashama's helmet? A scarlet letter ??? Really ?? That stupid squiggly A looks like a logo for a mom and pop grocery.

Alabama probably has the most basic color, logo, uniform combo in the country.

Burnt orange is one of my favorite colors. Half the time I'm with you on UTenn though. It's just such a soft, girly, almost pastel shade of orange.

Yeah, UT's orange needs to be much deeper. It almost looks faded.

Doesn't matter, it should happen. When they wore the throwback old gold helmets, I absolutely loved the purple and gold together. Just seemed storied and old school.
Granted, I wasn't huge on the uniform itself, just the general color concept.

you're right, they did and I think it was more like that in the 30s or 40s from what I can tell in photos
The helmets in the 50s started to look like dijon mustard and then they went to the current canary yellow.

I agree. I'm a big fan of the shiny, light gold metallic helmets, but I understand why they keep the more flat, yellow/gold. Guess I'm used to it, now. What bothers me more is the not true purple. It's more of a blue/purple, especially on television.

I've never seen a poll on it but I recall that the pro combat look was generally liked.
I think that the canary yellow is deeply ingrained in the fan base and it shows up well on TV.
So, a change at this point would be hard to do.
