1987 Arky vs Tejas game in Little Rock. I was supposed to jump the game ball in but on 1 October I got orders to head to Central America on the 20th so they took me off the Black Team (Golden Knights), and told me to catch a hop out of Little Rock (the 173rd reserve was there at the time.)
I finagled my way into DZSOing the game for my teammates, buddy of mine jumped the ball in and we partied our asses off that night after the game. Banged out some Arky girls at the hotel that Saturday and Sunday night and flew-out of LR ... was it Russell AFB? ... that Tuesday all the way to Ilopango.
Got to see a helluva game though. I think Texas won like 16-14 or something like that. It definitely had the air of a big time rivalry. Not Bama-Auburn big or South Carolina-Clemson vicious, but it was obviously a game that meant a lot to the fans on both sides.
I learned to dislike Texas fans that weekend. Had some assume that since we were military we were A&M fans and they tried to start some shite with us - it did not end purty for them - that's about all I can say about that.

historically, which rivalry do you think was more heated and carried more weight in terms of games that meant something on a national scale? I'd have to go with Arkansas-Texas being more prominent.
I'll try to answer this question as it relates to football.
From a pure hatred standpoint, it's hard to compare an in-state rival with an out-of-state rival.
Arkansans and Oklahomans hate the state of Texas in general, so the hatred was easily reciprocated.
Plus, unless you worked with a bunch of Razorbacks or Sooners (there are relatively tons of them in Dallas), you didn't have to look at them every day, so hate came more easily.
Arkansas and Oklahoma were "foreigners."
Aggies are fellow Texans, and sometimes even family members, so the hatred was tempered by the fact "that we're all Texans at the end of the day" and that daily interaction is the norm.
From a historical standpoint ("terms of games that meant something on a national scale"), then easily, Oklahoma and Arkansas were bigger rivals.
Texas and Oklahoma met many times with both teams ranked in the top 5 or top 10, and similarly with Arkansas (but not as much as Oklahoma).
Texas and Texas A&M have rarely met on the football field when both teams were ranked.

No disrespect to A&M (I'm sure they're a great rival), but frick the University of Texas! The earth could swallow that school, and all I'd think is that it's about damn time.

Arkansas, however, has a 41-25 record against A&M in football. THAT makes us a better football program.
Kansas State has a winning record against Texas.

We're also a better basketball program, baseball program, track program, etc. etc.
You just don't beat us in any of these.
Go ahead, I give you permission to cite your past feats. I understand reality--as in, the now--is something from which you all hide.

Aggies love to restrict time frames. Can't do anything but accept that they are historically below Arkansas in pretty much every sport.
And Arky can't do anything but accept that it is currently and foreseeably beneath A&M. But to your point, catch up in hardware and all-time wins, then we'll talk.
Question--how much did 41-24 ...errr 5 ... assuage the sting from watching JFF run actual circles around your D?

Coming from a guy claiming his program is better based exclusively on the head-to-head record.
Never mind that A&M has more total wins, bowl wins, conference titles, Heismans, and a better overall winning percentage.
But no, clearly it's Arky who is A&M's Super Bowl.

Boy, your first Heisman and top-5 finish in 56-plus years, and you aggies have become insufferable douchebags (as opposed to mere douchebags).
Wow.
Wow.

History--specifically very old history--doesn't matter in Rant debates.

Let your little brother have their time in the spotlight. The only reason he is trying so hard is because, as we all know, they know how shitty their athletic program really is.

No, we're elite because we finished in the top 5, have the best player in football, the hottest coach in America (sans Nicky), a top 5 recruiting class, and are about to furnish the first two players selected in the draft.
Meanwhile, you have Bo ... By the way, is he making some noise on the recruiting trail?

Um. What? A&M and Arkansas both joined in 1915. A&M was in the league 5 extra years. From 92-96. So I guess you can take off 1 extra SWC title in that time frame A&M won.

That BMFP crashed a whole lot more than a motorcycle.
