No.

You stated that what LSU is about to do now that Saban is gone would be my worst nightmare.

I said that’s fricking stupid - since I sat through the DuBose, Fran, and Shula years.

You stated that LSU is playing better ball now than they were during those eras, which is demonstrably false. During the worst stretch in Bama football history, 2000-2007, LSU finished in the Top 10 five times, won 2 national championships, won 11+ games 3 different times, and won 3 SEC Championships.

To sum up: No, what LSU is about to do is not my worst nightmare. No, LSU is not playing better ball currently than they were during their best stretch in program history.

It's funny to me that you understand LSU football as well or better than their own fans. I do as well.

I live in Louisiana and have conversations about LSU football all the time. I Know their fanbase better than they know themselves. I watch all their games and listen to their sports shows but what they think they know about Alabama football couldn't fill a frickin' thimble. They never watch and don't follow Alabama. So when I tell them how and why Alabama is going to beat them. They're in utter disbelief and godsmacked by the outcome.

I think people are not really respecting how much more random championships are apt to be in the expanded playoff era. Having the best roster is going to work out most of the time, just like it does in the regular season. Still, more games means more chances to run into bad matchups on a bad day.

2012 Alabama was probably the best overall team of the Saban era but they had one bad day against a very good but not championship caliber team with an offense that created some mismatch problems. Now that stuff is more likely to happen in the playoffs. Yes, your school's team is probably better 7 out of 10 times against this opponent but they do mismatch you in a few spots and your players are exhausted from the prior week's game.

Also, the normal stuff like more opportunities to catch bad college officiating working against you that week and injuries.

I wouldn't be surprised if Smart ends up matching or pass Saban in titles. I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia only wins 1 or 2 more with Smart.

No doubt.

Who can forget this amazing take?

Kirby's Kryptonite was Nick Saban. I can admit it. That's why I say Georgia has the most to gain from Saban's retirement.

This is the correct answer. Kirby was 1-5 against the GOAT. He would have surpassed him eventually with age, but after the retirement Kirby is suddenly alone as the best coach in the business. All the schools that think a weight is lifted because Saban is gone are still just going to get steamrolled by UGA now.

Alabama is the right answer. It was time as the talent is leveling out and it’s more about coaching and that’s where Saban has never been the best and was falling hard.

LSU, easy.

There’s one thing holding LSU back from 5+ titles the last 20 years.

Will LSU take advantage??… only time will tell. But there’s no question LSU benefits most from Saban leaving. Auburn certainly a close second relatively-speaking.

100% right. The era of his style had past. Saban won by hording NFL talent, not coaching. Without talent, he could have never been as successful.

It’s got to be LSU, because even when we had a better team than them that mf would still find a way to beat us.

We don't even know yet if Bama will play LSU every year.

Kelly just managed to win 10 games and finish tied for second in his division despite having the worst defense in school history.

Yeah, I’d say he’s probably elated.
