Well, if you haven’t noticed, LSU is playing just a little bit better football than during those eras…. Prepare to be really pissed off baw.

LSU played every one of those coaches with Saban as head coach, won multiple conference championships and a national championship, then won another National Championship during Saban’s worst year at Bama.

Do you watch football?

Kelly just managed to lose 3 games and finish 3rd in his own division with the 2nd best offense in school history.

Yeah, I’d say he’s probably relieved.

Relative to program potential. This guy is the least intimidating coach in the conference.

I suppose Kelly's better than Fisher though. That's who Woodward originally wanted.

Alabama

Maybe they can beat Texas under the new coach

With the same Coach who's already beaten them twice?

Ok.

Probably UGA since Kirby and Saban were using the same recruiting networks.

So your going to base our future success off of what happened in cfb 20 years ago, am I reading that right?

No.

You stated that what LSU is about to do now that Saban is gone would be my worst nightmare.

I said that’s fricking stupid - since I sat through the DuBose, Fran, and Shula years.

You stated that LSU is playing better ball now than they were during those eras, which is demonstrably false. During the worst stretch in Bama football history, 2000-2007, LSU finished in the Top 10 five times, won 2 national championships, won 11+ games 3 different times, and won 3 SEC Championships.

To sum up: No, what LSU is about to do is not my worst nightmare. No, LSU is not playing better ball currently than they were during their best stretch in program history.

Beating Saban on his field by double digits was no big deal. This is all overblown

Has to be Auburn, right? Georgia, LSU, Tennessee & Texas were already doing ok. But, Bama lost some playmakers to Hugh because they weren’t sure if Nick was planning to stick around.

The entire college football world probably feels better about Saban retiring; but to be honest Alabama is probably going to be the one that benefits the most. Saban was done and his decisions were getting bad. If people can comprehend Bama trending up at this point, they are.

What exactly has that overrated dancing fat fig won?

Brian Kelly is the most overrated coach in college football, and he's going to prove it to you before y'all fire him.

He's been ranked as the #2 or #3 coach in the SEC.

You can make arguments for other coaches ahead of him but there's no slam dunk other than Kirby so he seems ranked appropriately.

How did getting blasted in the Rose Bowl for the natty and getting beaten at home by Saban feel?

Kirby's Kryptonite was Nick Saban. I can admit it. That's why I say Georgia has the most to gain from Saban's retirement.

If it weren't for Saban, Kirby would have 4 NC's in his 7 years as a head coach instead of just two.

Right. But if it weren't for Saban, Kirby would've started his coaching career at GaSouthern or some other directional school, so he'd have ZERO titles today.

I think Georgia is the only program in the SEC that really benefits a ton from no more Saban. Saban stopped two Georgia titles and kept them out of the playoffs two other times in the SECCG.

Saban may have caused more psychological trauma to LSU but he put more hurt on Georgia's trophy case in his 17-year reign of terror.

Won’t deny it. I’m glad he is gone. Gonna be a lot easier to win natties now.

Unfortunately for Smart, most of his career will be in the 12+ team playoff era. The point of expanding the playoff wasn't to make sure the best team wins but to introduce more opportunity for randomness (injuries, bad bounces, egregious officiating mistakes, etc) so the best team doesn't win quite as often.

I’m not worried. Georgia has a much better chance than other teams.
