They didn't like how Bama operated, saw it wouldn't change, and left.

Yep, if GT had been in the SEC they would not have single conference championship in football and of course we own them in the football rivalry. But yea, they are better in basketball and baseball is about a wash I would say.

Wow that's quite a bold statement seeing as how we won a National Championship in football in 1990. I would think you would remember that as you have to pass right by it on your way back to the year you people having been living in for 35 years, 1980. Btw we have 5 SEC championships in football which is still more than several long time members of the SEC.

It was a combination of their ad thinking they could be the ND of the south and Dodd having a pissing match with Bryant.

After reading this thread full of trolls, it's pretty clear that GT doesn't want to be in the SEC.

They can't do squat with any of their athletic programs in the less competitive ACC, so why would they consider being part of the SEC again? I'm talking more than football, basketball, and baseball.

No matter what people think, the other non profit sports are important to an athletic dept.

I don't agree ACC is less competitive. ACC is more competitive across the board. Look at G Tech's division, last few years they all beat each other. G Tech is almost always a factor to win their division in ACC football, they have won it and the ACC in recent years so you can't say they dono't do anything.

Have you seen their schedule in 1990? Played lowly ranked Nebraska for crying out loud. No way they win the SEC that year.

ACC much better fit fo GT. Tech couldn't deal with Alabama/SEC circa 1962 so I can't imagine how the would fit in today's SEC.
