He used some shady-arse tactics while he was here. He would bring hot college age females to HS players games, I believe they were called something like the "Volunteer pride" squad or something. There were several other things as well. We eventually self reported them and got a few lashes from the NCAA, and I think we were on probation as well, but we didn't get anything too serious.

They would have made an example out of Tennessee if Lane, O and crew stayed in Knoxville for more than a year

Janzen Jackson would have been great if he wasn't such a fricking moron. I don't think he ever kept himself out of jail for 6 months straight. And we gave him lots of chances.

He's not a moron. He's a sociopath.

ESPN writer Chris Low said it would've all gone up in a rather glorious manner had Kiffin remained. What he was doing was beyond shady and it was known to sports writers. As it went, we still got sanctioned for his one year but we didn't get as hammered as we would've been.

Sociopaths are rational beings that ultimately don't give a damn - they do what they want without the burden of that pesky thing called a conscience (hell there are sociopaths that choose to be good but it's a choice with them as they don't have feelings or consciences the same way the rest of us do). Hernandez is a sociopath not Janzen.

Janzen's case shows signs and symptoms a lot closer to schizophrenia or another severe mental illness, not sociopathy. His mental and emotional state degraded severely over time and was at the point where his mom had called in the county mental health services to intervene before the murder took place.

One of the Hostesses went to Lane and said that a recruit wanted sex with her.

His response :

"Well, could ya?"

I think they'd be about where the are now with Butch. Contending for the east and a solid program. Lane is a good coach, he just has some serious personality flaws and I think his time under Saban is going to give him a chance to be a really good HC down the road.

I think you are judging him on now rather than then. He was bad at Oakland, mediocre at UT, and bad at USC. He's been solid as an OC for Saban and seems to have matured a bit over the years. All of that plus his experience under Saban may help him be a good HC in the future but he wasn't a good HC at his prior stops and I don't think he had the maturity to be a good one at UT.

Shaft wasn't being hypothetical. Kiffin actually said, "well could, ya?"

I know he was and remember that being mentioned back in the day.

I was adding my own twist of what I think he might have said as well.

Oh ok. I know a lot of the craziness of the Kiffin-Dooley Era sound like fan exaggerations to a lot people. And looking back on it all, it really is insane all of the things that went down.

And yeah, if he'd thought about it he probably would've negotiated it.

Thanks for the back-up evidence. Not to imply all of them are thugs because they're not, but some of them were. Jackson has mental health problems. Just another bogus myth perpetrated by idiotic media that Kiffie recruited well for us - what BS!

Well this decides it. If Dan Muffin leaves after next season I want Lane the pimp Kiffin as our next HC.
