I don't think OSU should get in regardless.
but alas, the media loves them so i'm sure they'll find a way into the playoffs

This is what's still very wrong with the major college playoff. A popular name school can still get into the playoffs, pushing aside better teams. An 8-team playoff would help but a 16-team tourney would insure the best teams get a shot at the natty.

Come on bro. You are way too smart to think that the only fair shot at the championship is to let 16 teams play for it. Take a good look at the top 16 right now and tell me how a team like Auburn etc deserves a playoff bid. Four teams is plenty. There will be a true champion crowned this year from the field of 4.

I would agree with most but how is PSU not even above average? They beat OSU and MSU and the MSU game was a blowout. The week before Mark d goes for a two pointer if he gets it OSU goes down again.

I'm the one who said I'd like to see the entire system fall. Seeker, you should take me seriously. I don't spread no lies. And I only troll on occasion. This would be good for Bama. They get a warm up game before the title. Most Bama fans don't want a close game. They want a blowout of course. Who wouldn't?

Why do they call themselves THE Ohio State?

It does seem a dubious honor, doesn't it? I've driven over that wretched state a few times, and landed in their major airport (it's actually in Kentucky).

I guess being THE Ohio State means they are the true representatives for the US capitol of SUCK.

I would 10x rather drive across Mississippi than Ohio. If God were to give America an enema, the nozzle would go in Detroit. If the enema was rejected, the spew would cover Ohio.

They are owned by the University of Florida. Beat their arse in the National Championship game in both Football and Basketball.

Nah, man it ain't all that bad in Ohio. Cleveland used to be a pretty cool town when they had a nightlife scene called The Flats in the late 1980's to mid 1990's. I have some cousins up there. But that area was hit hard by jobs being sent to China and South America. Then Columbus is actually a cool city too. Not everybody there is brainwashed by Ohio State. I refuse to call them The ----. They are no more special than any other school. They will never have the academics of Michigan or Wisconsin. But they try like hell. You go South of Columbus and you might as well be in West Virginia or the foothills of Kentucky. That's the part that infuriated me about some of them Ohioans. They would talk shite about those states and about Tennessee, but the culture was almost the same. Stupid shite.

I have to admit, I've never stayed in Ohio for any length of time, let alone partied there. Never really done Cleveland either. My experience has been driving through (south to north, several times), cheap hotels, and layovers at CVG.

Like I said, they are owned by the University of Florida. It's their north campus. We sent heart attack Meyer there so he could keep Bama from winning. So far he's done a half arse job.

Let's just make this clear. People are over complicating all of this

Teams that suck. Oklahoma, penn state, Colorado.

Teams that don't suck. Clemson, osu, bama, Michigan, Washington, wisky

People need to quit arguing for penn state. They are overrated as shite

I wouldn't go so far as to say these teams "suck" but I think you hit the nail on the head with common perception about all those teams you list.

The interesting thing though is that most people entertaining the idea of Penn St making the field aren't really arguing that they should be ranked any higher than they are right now.

What they seem to be saying is that if Penn St were to beat Wisconsin soundly they'll have beaten two of those teams that "don't suck" and maybe that means that they don't suck either.

I tend to think Wisconsin wins anyway though and all this talk ends up being just for the pure enjoyment of hypothetical dilemma.

Now now, everyone be nice to Urban. Not everything in his life is great. He feels horrible that he never saw murder in AH's future and for banging that 23yr old intern. Wait wait, I did not say that. Pretend you did not read that.

OSU is the only 1 loss team in the best conference in CFB this year. They have earned a spot.

$$$$...they want a Gump/Suckeye title game so bad it's obvious. They place OSU at 2, so after the conf champ games, they can move them down one spot, to 3 and say "blah, blah, blah we recognized the value of conf champ and they leapfrogged OSU", but still keeping their preferred title game in play.

So true. But it would be the most intriguing matchup nationally. Rematch. CUM vs CNS.

Brand name. Ohio State sells more tickets and gets better TV numbers. Same reason Oklahoma got in over Stanford last year.

The committee and ESPN can tell us all day long that there's no corroboration, but you won't convince me the network that paid as much as ESPN did for the playoff and the rankings show doesn't have an influence on which teams get put where.

It's the same reason TCU was No. 3 in the next to last rankings in 2014, yet ended up 6th because they didn't play a conference title game. Meanwhile, Ohio State, who proved they belonged in the playoff by winning it, got the final spot. Of course this year, everyone says "oh you can't jump Ohio State" because they're supposedly head and shoulders above everyone else. It's garbage.

The eye test only matters when the blue bloods don't meet the qualifications set forth with precedent by committee in years past.
