Ole Miss has a lot of out-of-state students but not a lot of diversity there. I would say 99 percent of them are from Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, St. Louis or Louisiana.

You can say the same for Auburn as well.

That's not close to true for either school, particularly AU.

I know several.

Updated info on UT... This incoming class is basically all Tennesseans, something like 80 percent which seems pretty high for any flagship uni. That's the highest I've ever seen it so I'm wondering if word came down to admit more in-state students, especially with the tuition hikes and lotto schollies.

Weird because it's harder than ever to get in so you'd think admissions would be even more choosy taking the best applicants from all over.

One note: I *think* this is for UTK but it may be for the entire UT system. If it's for the system (UTC, UTM, etc.) that would skew things.

The State of Tennessee actually sends more students to Vandy than any other state. But you are right, Vandy students come from all over.

Lots of kids from Texas and the Southeast. Atlanta is a major supplier. There are also a ton of students from Chicago, D.C.-Baltimore area, and rest of the Northeast.

That's not close to true for either school, particularly AU.

Georgia fans, to feel better about themselves (and feel better about their lack of success in football), like to think that Auburn is made up of 90% metro Atlanta kids, all of which were declined by Georgia.

It's super desperate and cute

Love all the Texas money flowing into the UofA. Will be huge down the road.

It was just beginning my sophomore year around 2004 when the floodgates opened.

Arkansas is a pretty even split between NWA and Little Rock metros. Then small Arkansas towns.

Then Dallas, followed by KC metro, both MO and KS. Then probably Tulsa metro, and a small number of Memphis kids.

Upvoted for telling the truth. While we do have a some public schools that drag our rep down (sorry Memphis but I'm looking at you due to quantity and it's time to pony up for better schools) we also have some fantastic public schools that might as well be private schools in terms of standards and offerings.

Then there's the private schools around Nashville and Knoxville that are top flight (and I don't mean the new ones but the established ones). And of course the greater Memphis area has some excellent private schools.

IOW, we're not the dumbasses folks think we are just because we're in the South.
